Neither here.
I've always used DLT YS to remember the ones *not* to scoop from because it has fewer letters.
DLT (Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato - I know it's not a B!)
Y (and in Spanish)
S (Sauce)
It was before I encountered non-sequence / rare stars.
Yeah, not a big reason, specially if not explorer...
But hey, OBAF... makes for an interesting talk on a party about stars...at least you can talk about how they are classified and why...
With KGB.. you can't say much more than.."huh, I can scoop those"...and poof it goes your audience interest...just a thought?
Read one something like: Always keep good fuel or be marooned. Short and to the point.
Or how about: Oh! All Fuel Gone. Must Ka-Boom!
Seriously, who among us hasn't ever pulled that trick. You're cruising through the stars, with your favourite girl (or guy) on your arm, looking to pull around Betelgeuse for a little privacy.. when suddenly...
- Oh no, we've run out of gas. I have to pull over.

- No really. Check the gauge!
- So....... do we make out now?
- No, we die horribly. Starvation, or asphyxiation. Unless the cabin fever or cannibalism kicks in first..

i sat there like 30 minutes staring at the poll thinking" What the hell are those people talking about?" Then i realised all those capital letters are starclasses... scoopable stars?
If so , i dont use any technique to remember the fuel stars. i just know which ones are good to go, i guess.

Answering that with the customary old-fashioned UK one would break so many forum rules, outrage so much decency and be so outright offensive. That's a mnemonic that I only ever recite silently in my head. Not going there
(To say that it's both racist and sexist is only scratching the surface..)

I don't consider myself an ex-astrophysicist, just a rusty one...
(The irony being that All I Really Know About Practical Orbital Dynamics has come from KSP over the last couple of years!)
Fact is, the different mnemonics were designed for different uses. I'm in the "Oh, Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me" camp, but that comes from studying astrophysics when there was relevance in the right order of main sequence stars. For those whose primary concern is whether a star is scoopable or not, I can understand that KGB FOAM would be more appealing

That was the version I was also taught in the 80s.
FOG KBAM - really from the first Nutter video I watched on exploring and it stuck from the first second
