Èxploring asteroid belts: how to reveal if it's "pristine", "major reserves" etc?

Im a exploring outside the borders of inhabited space. When I scan asteroid belts I can't seem to reveal if the belt is with "Major Reserves", "Pristine", "Low Reserves" etc. I can only get to see if it's "Metal Rich". How do I explore how much 'reserves' it has?

Are you checking it on the System Map screen? That usually displays ring status, but it's often higher up in the left hand text box and not immediately next to the rings data.

As others have said; the system map is the place to look in the upper left corner. This will give the status of the system and it's betls. Hoever, if you are in a system with planets that have rings, clcik on tehpanet and the lower left will give details of the rings and their status as to being prisitne or major etc.

I can't find that? Look the screenshot of the system view, it only says it is "Metal Rich" for the asteroid belt. But nothing about it's reserves?

Same goes for the rings around the gas giants:

Everyone is wrong here, Exploration is not fully implemented yet, You need a "detailed Mineral scanner" to find out the levels of mineral concentration, I scanned several undiscovered system rings and belts (with detailed surface scanner) and could NOT find out the level of concentration.

What are the levels of quality from lowest to highest, is it
Metallic
Metal rich
Pristine

Also, why can I never find any metal deposits at these sites, it seems all to be minerals.

nope.
metalic and metal rich are TYPES of roid, along with rocky and ice.
pristine is the reserve level, along with depleted and i forget the rest.

Depleted Reserves
Low Reserves
Common Reserves
Major Reserves

Aaaaaahhhhhh!, I've been doing it wrong all along. As the name would imply, you get metal from metallic belts and not metal rich, kinda explains my poor mining loot :)

The second picture has the text 1/2 way down on the left - above all the ring information.

Your'e right that is said "pristine reserves" for the gas giant. But what does it actually tell? Is it the reserves of the ring? Or just the reserves of the 'contents' inside the actual gas giant? Because the "Pristine reserves" text is not placed inside the info box for the two rings...?

I've always taken that as an indication for the rings belonging to that planet, or in the case of the zones near stars, then that zone. As I indicated earlier, it's there but easy to miss, and intuitively I'd have placed it against the individual ring type information. That said, although System Maps like the screenshots above will show two or more rings, I'm not aware when flying if there's any obviously labelling. We're left just with "Extraction Site" targets to fly to, without knowing which ring they belong too. More for FD to fix/improve.

So what you're saying is that right now the equipment to scan asteroid belts for reserve condition is simply not implemented yet?

You might want to check the Design Discussion Archive, which is where I suspect 1Percent was drawing the information on mineral scanners. I'm not big into mining but don't remember seeing such a scanner available to buy, and that's not how I've been mining (I might have been doing it wrong!).

Here's the original potential scope of mining, not all of which has been implemented and some of which might never now be implemented.

In my experience the reserve status is system-wide and not unique to a ring or planet. I've never seen it differ between sources in any system i've visited.
