Exquisite focus crystals and modified embedded firmware only from wing missions now?

The only missions I can find that reward these are wing missions, crazy ones like delivering 3k of something.

I don't play in a wing.

Are there single player missions that reward these now? There used to be. They weren't common but weren't impossible to find either. I haven't found one yet, it's all wing missions and I'm getting very frustrated.

Definitely not just wing missions, even in 3.0.4.

Not common, but if friendly or allied with factions, they will pop up.

I've had them for Massacre missions, Skimmer missions, Delivery missions, Assassination missions, Spec Op missions etc.

Plus you can still get MEFs from data points [now 3 at a time again thanks to 3.0.4] and Exquisite Focus Crystals can be dropped by ships [Anacondas seem to have the best chance]

Can't really say about MEF, because that's not a material I pay too much attention to, but I maxed out my EFC storage from doing passenger haul and courier missions, in last couple days (all solo missions)

Maybe try another system? (I never found out if it plays any role in it, though)
I was doing most of the missions in Sol and neighbouring systems.

If I'm correct Biotech Conductors can ONLY be had through missions though. I'd like someone to prove me wrong on this so I'd have more ways of getting them.

Embedded Firmware you can get from Black Box Missions, Solo Delivery Missions and sometimes from Assassinations though that last one seems to no longer be true.

Same for Exquisite Focus Crystals, though my current favorite method for those is doing Elite Assassination Missions (Solo Missions.) Usually the enemy is an Anaconda or a Corvette and when they blow up they often drop Exquisite Focus Crystals.

I built up quite a supply of them by putting a Collector Limpet Controller in my Corvette and going on a killing spree. [big grin]

You need a high-paying mission (generally over 3 million base pay) or it won't have enough money to convert to G5 materials. This generally means taking the mission at Elite rank (or maybe the one just below), and Allied status with the faction, so if you're just wandering around you may not see any. All the wing missions pay that much even at lower ranks and reputation, which is why it's easy to think it's exclusive to them - solo mission options when prepared include:
- high value cargo missions (Gold, Platinum, Progenitor Cells, etc.)
- the larger bulk passenger missions
- the famous explorer long-range passenger missions
- surface scans
- inter-bubble data courier missions
- massacre missions

They also drop from Anacondas in RES, occasionally along with some other G5 mats.

You can do the wing massacre missions by yourself though. There used to be solo missions for pirate kills in the same number, though it was a bit easier because they didn't need to be of a specific faction. I used to do them all the time, which is why I did 2 wing massacre missions for 80-90 solo recently. Shame because, if anyone was interested they could've gotten 8 EFC easy because I don't mind sharing.

If you have trade Elite rank, go to Jameson Memorial and look for Sensitive Supply Operation delivery missions. They are super-easy and award MEF, EFC and BC (and large sums of money). You'll need Cutter or T9.

Ok this is good. I've been mostly since 3.0 collecting engineer materials and unlocking the last ones I need and am not allied with the local factions. I don't even remember the systems where I'm allied save one but it's probably easy to get allied now (not like it wasn't before).

I don't know about missions, but I was getting the exquisite crystals and other good things last night, bounty hunting in a Haz Res. Each time after destroying a wanted ship I unleashed the collector limpets.

Go for elite wing assasinations : some mission targets drop up to 4 EFC containers. MEF : I usually run missions for that.

You don't need to bother soloing Wing Missions to get any of those mats. Just Ally with the factions in an active system and you should have no problems getting them. But because they are typically only offered as part of "premium" missions paying in the 3 millionish range, you won't be offered them unless you are allied with the mission giving faction.

The mission types are wide ranging as well, but Planetary Scan, and high paying Cargo Delivery missions are where I typically collect the most E. Focus Crystals, Modified Embedded Firmware, Biotech Conductors etc.

I find these G5 mat rewards pop up frequently on the sothis mining->ceos mission loop. It's a 20 jump trip for my python but well worth it.

Planetary scan missions, skimmer missions, and regular assassination missions also pay them nicely, particularly if you are elite and allied.

I’m very salty about refugees from burning stations no longer paying them. Those cheapskates are gonna fry now - I don’t work for free!!

They're nerfing that by adding more stations to make it that much more of a pain.

Still might want to return there though, I'm allied.
