Extremely low mission payouts for long range passenger missions

Lots of inconsistencies to be found on the mission boards these days. I keep bringing this up but I'm not sure anything will happen now.

From what I gather the balance pass has been successfully concluded? I really hope I'm wrong on that.
Greetings Commanders,

Welcome to the third and final set of game balancing changes this side of 2021. In the new year, we'll turn our attention to other aspects of the game that you've raised in your suggestions and feedback. As promised, we're making some further balancing changes to other elements of combat which can be expected alongside a GalNet article later today:
We can only hope...

I was curious...
My favourite 'hangout' for Colonia missions is Coats Terminal in Buzhang Ku where I am Allied with most of the factions. Data missions pay 3.8 mill average:

...quite nice...

Passenger transport (one way) is pretty poor paying for a 22,000 Ly trip each way:

The crazy is the "Transport Clint" to Scylla - but the station is about 500KLs from the star, so pay is high...
(Perhaps we shouldn't mention 22KLy as being a long way...)
The Colonia transport missions give a week to complete... (as do the Courier ones!)

So, in total madness I'm going to grab a Beluga full of passenger missions, top up with courier ones, and fly (not using the Neutron Highway) out in my 45Ly jump Beluga. I'll aim to collect a similar number of returnees from Ratraii or Colonia for the trip back.

I'll post on arrival the total amount from missions and explo data for each leg... and of course, total flying time... I have a feeling it won't reach the 50 mill / hour or even close 🤔

Reading between the lines...problem with that Bruce G quote is that I think everything on the list for balance in 2020 was in FDs view 'successfully completed'.

The stuff mentioned for balance in 2021 are I believe other things like material requirements for engineering and hopefully a look at areas like smuggling, mega ships etc...still no real details.

Maybe if we shout loud enough about missions they might listen...I have a horrible feeling FD feel that part of the game is now 'balanced'.

Like you said, we live in hope...but I've seen FD do this a number of times...break an area of the game then walk off with the 'my work here is done' saunter.

I'm still going to stand on my soapbox with a loud hailer.

Passenger missions to Colonia from the bubble have been low paying for as long as I remember (Transpot Fred to Ratraii type), the return trip ones are better paid , but normally have super-shy & paranoid 'famous explorers' who are allergic to being scanned as their passengers (I have always refused those - I prefer an honest Criminal Mastermind...) so are a real time-waster in my opinion.

Oh, couriers pay out 3.8m now? Damn... I'd revise my claim now and suggest one- way passengers should be at least 7-10m.

Data missions have been paying on that level for the last year for me... I went back to check if they had been 'balanced' and was happy to find them unchanged. (Each time I'd gathered sufficient mats for the Colonia engineer boost I'd pick up 20 missions, sort out the hunters before leaving, and fly out in my DBX)

This time I'm not deliberately heading into the Western Neutron Field, but will use the NS / WD that get mapped in. Currently have 475 jumps remaining and have done around 100 already!

Something, something... exploration data additional income.... something... something.

I bet the low payout is due to you getting lots of exploration data on the way. The mission payout is just an exscuse. And it sounds like waitress job advetisement - we pay you pennies but your main income will come from tips.
Yes, and also no. I mean, I did a long haul flight not so long ago and despite using fss in every system I passed along the way (to be fair I did skip the return journey thanks to a helpful commander that gave me a lift) I only made 146mil in exploration data. And it took me a week to do. would have been more if I'd made my own way back, and if I hadn't had the luxury of playing almost all day on most days. And that's with having been the first to discover/report a great many of the systems I passed through.

I don't know if you know...
(I love that phrase!)

Filtering out star classes can improve the payout in exploration by removing the "scan 8 snowballs" from the equation, but has the drawback of potentially missing something interesting in the normally bland star class systems. Excluding from after Class "F" to "Proto" stars can boost earnings, but I have found 'interesting' stuff in Y-Class systems and ELW's in M-Class...

Perhaps, in the near future, you might join me in a couple of week romp around the dense stars near the centre - apart from the amazing skybox, worth it just for that in my opinion, there are plenty of black holes, O-Class, C-Class (Carbon) and WR stars to enjoy, many of them previously undiscovered too. I'd be happy to wing up with you if you find the prospect of interest.

Sounds fun. Just need to get me a high quality exploration craft first. (Just spent my last few credits on a Mamba, no longer even have buyback for my Anaconda so being exta carful at the moment)
The DBX perhaps, love that for exploration, best jump range of all ships and all that. Plus a bit of engineering later and you got yourself something great for long journies.

I'd actually recommend any ship - if starting from FC and cutting out the 'mostly explored' bit any jump range will do because of the density of stars - although something like a DBX /AspX / Phantom is great so that anything 'interesting' appearing on the sysmap 'locally' might be reached easily.

Ok, will come out with my brand new Mamba then, with it's 12?ly jump range and fuel tank so small gotta refuel after just 2 - 3 jumps. 😋

Huh. Fair enough. Last I looked at them, which was Aug 2018, they were 1.6m

But I don't know how to leave a station without being scanned.

Not positive, but isn't it exactly the same as entering a station undetected? You can't be scanned if your heat signature is too small. Rig for silent running and pop a heat sink, then boost out of range before internal temperature gets too got.

No need even for the heatsink - SR will do the trick, or even deploying hardpoints (even if you have no guns) at the start of the scan should break it.

Good luck with this. Do you even read the manuals or follow basic rules like 'don't fly without rebuy' and such? Are you playing in Open or still in noob space?

Just asking.

O7,
🙃

Wow, I was just joking in my other post, but you really are stalking me now, aren't you? Haha, sweet.

Also, no. If you did a proper job on your stalking you'd learn I have stated previously I don't fly in open by choice. - For the record, I just hate people. And sure, call me a noob for that, if you like, probably am, I mean, I've only had this commander for 2 months, I believe that's how long you said this forum account has been active, and I occupy myself on other games a fair bit too, so yea. Am I a noob? Probably. Is that why I fly "noob space"? Also probably. (y)

Also, "Don't fly without rebuy" is more advice, than any kind of actual rule. Though I'm curious what manual it is you want me to read? Might give it a look when I can't get to sleep later. (total insomniac by the way, sleep does not come easy to me) 😁
