Eyefinity vs DK2

So... Ive done my background, lots of reading these forums, watching utube vids. Ordered DK2 last thursday ^_^ xmas comes early :p

Ive got a beefy system, was a custom build for BF4. Ive seen all the posts and utube vids about the DK2 immersion blowing people away. So tonight i decided to do something ive not done in Elite before, i set it up in eyefinity.. Initialy i was going for 3 24" monitors but news of the Rift coming soon changed all that.. So i set up 2 screens @ 3240x1920 (FPS was >150 constant, even in eye candy stations @ med gfx settings with crossfire running) and was instantly blown away by the dramatic scale change! I mean omg! it totally changes the game, just that simple step of running it across 2 screens. If thats the effect just an addition screen makes, then omg i cant wait for my DK2 to arrive :p :p :p :p

Question: Anyone run Elite over 3screens and also played on a DK2? Whats your opinion and which would you go for?

Dude, you can't even compare. It doesn't matter how much monitor you're using. With the DK2, you're in space INSIDE your ship. Ger ready to be blown away. You'll see once you get your DK2 :p

I was running 3x 24" screens for some massive res but then hooked up my dk1 and was like damn! Then almost threw up after 20 mins so went back to eyefinity. Then the dk2 arrived and i could read the text and didnt feel ill in the slightest and was actually inside the game with my hotas on my chair. I was like ...... no words could describe how awesome it was. I haven't used a screen since, ever. Can't even compare at all.

With the hotas set up in the natural position and voice commands , man so much fun.

When I originally started Elite about 2 months ago I was running 3x 24 inch screens at 5760x1080 with a TrackIR 5. I loved it, Elite worked great in EyeFinity, the extra monitors helped with immersion and combined with the trackIR the overall experience was great. I got my DK2 about 3 weeks ago and like everyone has said, you cant even compare. I was blown away the minute I put my rift on and was actually seated in my Cobra, staring over at the second seat as if a co-pilot should actually be there. The 3d in the rift is better than anything you'll see in the best 3d movies. A game like Elite where you dont move your body just your head during game play was made for the Rift. After having played with the Rift there is no way I could go back to 3 monitors.

The Rift is certainly a wonderful experience, but triple-screen has it's own advantages. I'd go for both, and use each as it's best suited for.

no not tried any kind of 3D tv or VR. seen short 3D films at theme parks which were good. ^_^ glad i resisted the temptation to go exploring in E D and grinded away upto now. Huge list of places to visit in whats now an A class asp fully equipped for exploring and it will be done in VR ^_^ bring it on!

true!.... the DK2 has slightly ropy tracking from time to time, it is super low resolution and it has awful SDE.............. and I blooming LOVE it ! :D

I would swap all the hi def image quality in the world every single day of the week for the experience of being in your ship.

Can any 1 who resantly got a DK2 post how long it took to deliver?
I hear it will be 2016 before the commercial version comes out and cant wait any longer.... Unless it takes months to deliver.

Lol,
Easy,
DK2 is way better,
better FOV,
way cheaper to set up,
uses less electricity,
and takes up less physical space

I ordered mine from the Oculus site on 30/04/15, it arrived 6 days later..

oooo... ordered mine May 14th. ^_^

I was like u tuskan, was prepared to wait for the CV1, expected this year untill they said Q1 2016. I reckon over a year from now + delays and considering how many ppl will be wanting one.... reality more like 18mths.

I run 3 42inch screens at 5860x1080 and all ultra and locked at a silky 60fps and have played about an hour so far. Mind you, i have played hundreds of hours with my dk2.
That should tell you something.

Hi Tusken, Its the best thing you can buy! Mine also took just over a week to get delivered and this was from US to UK - passed through customs no problem. I was very pleased with the turnaround on the order.
