FaceTrackNoIR/Freetrack Support

If you haven't seen it yet, have a read of this thread http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=15316
It appears to me to be a more elegant solution to head tracking (and yes, I have a DelanClip), if the problem of drift can be sorted.

The drift problem has been sorted to a need for a reset once every 30 minutes or longer once your units drift has been calibrated. But its being work on all the time to improve that figure.

Been using one of these for the last few weeks and helping with the testing of the new code, know I won't be going back to using using keys or a joystick hat switch for headlook mode now.

Sorry, but can someone tell me how to get vJoy with TrackNoIr to work?

My Tracknoir works in arma3, but I am trying to get it to work with vJoy, but vJoy doesn't seem to be catching the data from TrackNoIr.

EDIT: Got it. I didn't install the one originally in TrackNoIr.
I use a different one that allows me to configure new devices.

Manage to see the change in rotation in the Game Controllers, when moving my face around.

I have been trying to get the same to work for a while with little success. I find vjoy to be a hateful little bit of software to use.

I think we are going to have to wait/rely on FD to give us a better solution in the game.

Apologies for being a little late to the Party but I've got this to work kind of (I'm still tweaking sensitivity (Curves))

First problem I had when using a Virtual Joystick with Windows 8 is that the Driver is not digitally signed and Windows 8 won't let you continue with Driver installation.

If you suffer from this, here is the solution....
1. Windows Key + R
2. Enter shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
3. Click the "OK" button
4. System will restart to a "Choose an option" screen
5. Select "Troubleshoot" from "Choose an option" screen
6. Select "Advanced options" from "Troubleshoot" screen
7. Select "Windows Startup Settings" from "Advanced options" screen
8. Click "Restart" button
9. System will restart to "Advanced Boot Options" screen
10. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"

You can now get the driver installed as normal :)

Next issue for me was my Camera - Logitech C270 where it didn't seem to work with some Tracker sources. I used 'faceAPI V3.2.6 for Master (from the drop down menu) and FaceTrackNoIR UDP as 2nd.

As for a filter I selected Accela Filter MK2 and as I mentioned at first, use Virtual Joystick 1

I'm still playing with the curves to get a decent response without having to jump around my chair to get the headlook camera to move but only mapping X and Y axis helps, I find.

Just grap the lines on the 'Translation' tab, after pressing the Curves button (like you would for changing a route in Google maps).
For X I currently have left/right input at 15cm and Output at 60 cm
For Y I currently have up/down input at 7cm and Output at 30cm
Your milage may vary, and as I've said these need tweaking still.

Within ED make sure you have Headlook set to Direct and then set the Up/Down axis together (by default that setting box is empty, I believe). When that box is selected move your head up and down. If the sensitivity is enough (set by the Curves, mentioned above) then ED should detect the movement. Set the Left/Right in a similar way.

I have headlook toggled on my Thrustmaster HOTAS.

*phew* Hope that helps. :)

So vJoy is the only option? No Freetrack support yet? Dang, guess I'll just have to buy an Oculus Rift!

I've given up on Freetrack / FacetrackNOIR for now and have ordered one of the EDTracker devices. Sounds like a really good & cheap compromise to give me decent headlook pending a potential purchase of the OR commercial release (whenever that ends up being).

Facetracknoir and opentrack support E: D directly (you might need to grab the latest .INI file for facetracknoir). You can then use the Hatire plugin with the hardware ED Tracker uses (hatire was around first!)

I got EDTracker to work with opentrack using joystick curves to convert EDTracker data to vjoy and then read it via the opentrack joystick input plugin. (didn't work direct from EDT)

There was some axis juggling to get the corrrect input out of joystick curves and into opentrack correctly.

Aside from that. I did post on the ftnoir forums on an opentrack thread. One of the developers is considering creating an EDTracker plugin based on the current EDT source. But simply doesn't have the time right now.

Still promising though.

FYI using opentrack (a fork from ftnoir) is what I use and supports freetrack 2 protocol and 6 dof headlook in game ( rather than just vjoy) see steps here:

http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=20474

Similarly you can get ftnoir to work as well with free track 2 protocol and 6 dof headlook. Follow the steps in this post:

Please note with this full headlook the buttons to interface with the left and right ui screens no longer work. Instead. You just look at the screen to bring up the menus.

Yes, I was jumping for joy when I found that
FaceTrackNoIR Supported Games.csv file :)
works a treat :)
Last night I disassembled 3x old TV remotes and bust open the soldering iron, found an old webcam, ripped out the ir filter, put a few sunglasses filters in front and there it was 2 hrs later in all it's glory a completely free headtracking setup :) ...with a switch from a motorised world atlas...so the batteries don't run out :)
