FacetracknoIR, how do?

Anyone know the best way to get FacetracknoIR working? i heard you can strap LEDs to your head and it works well with point tracker, but is there any way of getting the software to work without doing that?

Currently i have it at default settings (cant find any calibration options anywhere) and have it mapped to the Vjoy driver, in so few words this does not work very well at all.

Strapping LED's to the head, must be a market for surgical implants :D, If the wife can have breast enlargements then I want head tracking , blue tooth and integrated 7.1 :D

Huh, I just sat down and went through the process with an old logitch orbit cam i had... works well enough to be enjoyable

Copy/pasta from the last thread: (And the one before last, by now. ;) )

Here are the exact steps I took:

1) Install FaceTrackNoIR

2) Download "FaceTrackNoIR Supported Games.csv" from link in this forum post by "Wim Vriend", and place the file in the "Settings" folder at wherever FaceTrackNoIR is installed, over-writing the original.

3) Run FaceTrackNoIR. Make sure that under the "Game Protocol" setting, "FreeTrack 2.0" is selected. Might be very helpful to tick the "Invert Pitch" box just above that setting at this point, and maybe choose a key for the "Center" function in "Shortkeys". (Preferably one that you're not using for anything else.)

4) Click the "Start" button in the "Go!" section, make sure that your camera is pointed at your face and the tracking is working decently. (Pay attention to the graphic in the top left.)

5) Run Elite as normal, and witness the magic.

Those steps gave me the "full head-tracking experience", including being able to roll my head and lean in/out, without having to set up any joystick commands in the game.

And with the Hatire plugin you can use the same hardware as ED Tracker (Hatire was first BTW)

most people don't have logitech orbitcam's lying around, and the retail price for one is roughly $300

wow, I just looked it up, had no idea it was worth so much... the boss lent it to me for messing about with this facetracking. I think I'll return it before I break it... have already ordered a nice cheap PS3 eyecam :p

One dumb question. I've more or less got this working with a PS3 eye camera and the face movement is tracked in ED. But, the movement is tracked constantly - how do I turn it off?

When I was using an X55 hat switch to simulate head movement I could turn tracking on and off with a headlook mapping button assignment but this doesn't seem to work now.

I'm sure I've missed a mapping somewhere but not sure which one...

If you are using FaceTrackNoIr then you can enter shortcut keys inside FaceTrackNoIr to turn the face tracking on/off. You have a button called Shortkeys in the main window where you can define that.

Incase you are curious i made a short video while experimenting with Nvidia shadowplay that just happens to showcase how my attempt with this went.

(that isn't me talking in the video)

though the be fair, i am working at a summer camp right now, and the room i am staying in is very dim and poorly lit, while the window only iluminates my face from one side, so i will have to try again once i am back home.

Struggeling in getting this to work.

Also looked at this vid on Youtube:

Got the software working and headtracking looks fine in Facetracknoir 1.7. However when in game nothing happens. Any hints on what I might have done wrong?

Reinstalled everything (now using the default install folder for Facetracknoir) and at least I get an error warning now in the Facetracknoir panel: Unknown game connected. Could it be because I can only do single play until 29/07 as standard beta?
