Failed Mission & Lost Ship (On planet)

Middle of a mission on foot to acquire an item, had a bounty on me (for some reason could not clear it at station - as in no options came up, looked like I didnt have a bounty as far as the station was concerned).. landed on planet and started making my way to the objective, but went into options / controls / on foot (to check keybinds) and when I got back to main screen. looked like I was dead (fuzzy/red border) and then found myself 20+ light years in some incarceration center (minus my ship). Got a taxi shuttle back to system where the map showed my ship, but when zooming into planet, unable to see exaclty where my ship was..

How the hell do I get my ship back? I cant even see it on the zoomed in planet map, only appears as an icon on planet.. so its lost?

Before when one failed a mission in ship, at least you got access to your ship again at the encarcertaion facility.. this needs to be fixed? (if you cant get back to it any easy way).
Perhaps the ship can be sent to the nearest station.. at least you can then get a taxi to it. or better still have it delivered to your encarceration location.. ?

I found a workaround to get my ship back. Logged out of Odyssey and into Horizons then back into Odyssey and it put me back in my ship at The Prospect. Don't know how many other bugs that will introduce, but at least I'm no longer stranded. 🕺

Yep.. that worked for me..

  • Once back in Odssey in my ship, I turned mysefl in / paid the bounty.
  • At the Incarceration facility, in the recovery report, selected my existing ship (for 0 credits).
  • Paid the fine and then found myself back in the ship at the At the Incarceration facility (with no bounty) free to fly wherever..

Not sure when I died on foot (in a mission) and found myself at the Recovery / Incarceration facility, there was an option to get my ship at that point.
I recall only option was to get a taxi to the system where the planetary map was showing my ship (on the surface somewhere).

I had absolutely the same bug, also on 22. of may.
But since then i wait for an answer from Support, couldnt get the ship back.
Frontier says they answer wiithin 7 days, now it is 14 and im starting to get mad.

I also heard that if you speak to the ship seller in a base, you might be able to get it back to you (ie. courier/transfer). I also heard that if you press Q for the on foot retucule/menu - there might be an option on it to recall/dismiss ship when youre in a base also.

Regards

All that i tryed already, no chance :(
Was the ship blown up? in my case I'd landed it and went into the settlement on foot. (when I got killed) so the ship was still intact (somewhere out there)..
This makes me not want to play Odyssey and stick to Horizons for the moment.

Same like you, landed, going to Settlement on Foot, got killed because i didnt stand still long enough for a scan and wake up in that prison. I was Travelling with Apex, tryed to recall Ship on all Settlements on that Planet, nothing. It is only to see in System/ Galaxy Maps, not under "manage yor Ships".

Per Frontier, when you die on foot and are sent to the detention center, your active ship is supposed to be sent there with you (regardless of its clean or criminal status).
That is not working. Essentially, your active ship is left in orbit around the planet where you died.

In the meantime, all you have to do is take a shuttle to any station with Inter Astra, and have the ship transferred to you there.

Check Inter Astra for a ship transfer. That might get it back.
This is how I did it. I asked the same question by the way.

Ship transfer from astra from any stations doest work as it doesnt show you the lost ship to recall, in fact from all your ships the one you lost doesnt show anywhere in "manage your ships!". The ship only shows in galaxy map and on system map on the planet were you last lost it but when you get there you can't recall it either with the Q menu, it says [ship out of range], please stop suggesting these two options. Your lost ship and my beautiful Kryte which took me more than a freaking year to engineer is most probably in some Frontier's unknown umpteenth BUG 😒

I suggest to open a ticket if you have lost a ship you really don't want to loose and hopefully they get back to us or give us back our beloved ships.

For me a tip i read in somewhere else worked.
Load the original Game, not Odyssey and not Horizons. In the Original it wasnt possible to land on any Planet, so the lost Ship is back on Station.

Thanks that worked! So people with lost ships follow this tip!! "My ship was still around the planet that I lost it but from shipyard/manage your ships it was showing as one of my owned ships in ED base game and i was able to tranfer it. As soon as tranfer is complete leave E.D. and go back to Odyssey then you can pick it (use this ship). As usual with Frontier we have to find a work around thse bugs, cos it have to be a bug I can't immgine Frontier doing these kind of things on purpose and make players just waste their time 😒

There is no bug in this and no one needs a workaround. You just need to mark for yourself or remember the settlement, at which you have been caught and died.
Then hire an APEX shuttle in prision to exact this settlement as target, you should remember the settlement by name.
The APEX shuttle land, you leave the ship, APEX shuttle starts and fly away and your ship appears on the landing pad automatic.
This is how it worked for me all the time (and I died a lot in settlements the last weeks.🙄 ).

If you did not land on the landing pad at the settlement, but nearby somewhere in the landscape:
Then leave APEX shuttle, step away from the settlement some meters and recall your ship.
This is how it worked for me too as I visited settlements at which I could not land with my ship because there were only landing pads for "S" size ships.
And then was shooted down there and woke up in prison.

The only thing which FDEv should do here is to program that the ship symbol not only shown at the planet/moon, but additional should be shown at the settlement.
In case one did not remember the name of it.

Actually this is as described not always working.

Also if this works it's irrelevant where on the planet you land with the Apex (exact settlement does not matter).

What doesn't make sense to me is that Apex's list of ships didn't show yours and allow you to transfer it. If this is actually what happened then it's a bug. I have had cough multiple incidents of 'me' being killed killed both with the ship dying first or the ship staying behind and my SRV and I being killed and APEX was my way out. I've also done what Rob Galaxy has said, and flown back to the settlement and found my ship waiting there for me.

If you can remember reproducible, please write up a bug report

This happened to me too. I raised a ticket with F Dev and they fixed it in about an hour. (y)

I was killed during an on foot mission and respawned in a detention centre. I took an Apex to the nearest system where I had a stored ship and then flew that to my original system (where I'd been killed). I was unable to have the ship transferred to that station, so I took an Apex to the settlement where I'd been killed. However, I couldn't recall the ship from the surface there, either.
