Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

My life will be super happy with Tasmanian devil if it is a temperate pack

I get people outside of Australia are super keen on black swan. But as an Aussie it really isn't an animal of interest compared to a Brolga, lyrebird or kookaburra which are 3 iconic animals in Australia.

The lyrebird is on our 10c coins. Brolga is an Aboriginal icon and used in many Dreamtime tales that belong to the Mambaliya-Wawukarriya clan and kookaburra is very common and everyone knows it's iconic laugh.

Of these three birds I would be picking Brolga both as an iconic bird but also very fitting nod to Aboriginals and recognising their iconic dieties in Dreamtime tales (we are currently going through mandatory voting for the Aboriginal and Torres straight Islander voice to be a key representative in parliament.)

It would be a wonderful coincidence. But I get political movements in games is usually not ideal.

P.s- I would love more Aboriginal art paintings, animal shapes and murals.
Honestly a Lyrebird would be pretty cool. A royal spponbill or maybe even a whistling duck could be cool additions to though.

B

Bowerbirds (satin?) would be great but one of the advantages of the lyrebird is that it doesn’t fly much, so would be ok under current mechanics whereas bowerbirds fly a fair bit.
Yeah, lyrebird could work off a fairly adjusted peafowl rig. Gotta say my favorite part about them is how they have like 10 different types feathers on their tail. It looks like mismatch of a bunch of birds tails.

A good temperate pack would be something like:
  • Tasmanian devil. The carnivorous marsupial
  • Kiwi. Small flightless nocturnal bird and NZ representation.
  • Reeve's muntjac. Covers the small forest ungulate niche and covers the southeastern broadleaf forests of China region that is not represented ingame. Would also allow modders to do proper pudus and duikers.
  • Mute swan. Self explanatory.
  • Virginia possum. Arboreal north american mammal + complete trash trio.
  • Patagonian mara. It's the Patagonia representation.
  • Golden pheasant/Echidna. Golden pheasant would be fantastic but I can also see it coming as part of a bird pack instead, echidnas are quite cosmopolitan, very popular and would complete monotremes.
  • WE: Kookaburra. The most iconic bird of the Australian continent, lives in temperate humid forests of Australia.
aka a varied, engaging and interesting roster with animals from all over the world

Yea, very cute but please, I did say I want tree kangaroo... 😭
Ah Ah Ah! You didn't say the magic word.

Solid pack 🤩

I would only add NA porcupine to get the whole representation of Over the hedge 🙂

My Woodland Pack would be:
  • Tasmanian Devil (Headliner Animal)
  • Wild Boar
  • Short-Beaked Echidna
  • European Bison or Reeves's Muntjac
  • A walking through bird exhibit, any bird species that live in woodland.
  • It would be nice if this pack has Wolverine in it...
For scenery, lots of wooden pieces and more foliage, obviously, especially more dead/broken trees. Make dead/broken trees climbable or make it as a new enrichment for monkeys/apes, bears, cats, etc.

If it’s really going to be Woodlands/Temperate I would really like to see:

Wolverine - true king of northern forests on 3 continents.
Coati - super cute cat sized animals that work well in children sections of the zoos and are a solid SA representation. Yes I have checked that also live in temperate forests.
NA porcupine - arboreal rodent that is much needed in my opinion.
Père David’s deer - my favorite animal that is extinct in the wild and love swampy forests.

WE: European eagle owl - iconic forest bird that would well represent the owls in the game.

Sorry Oceania no tassie, no echidna, no kiwi I have saved them for the islands pack.

Final prediction, right? I dunno, I feel like a temperate pack won't be done because we technically got it with the Twilight pack. It added a bunch of nature pieces, like the fallen leaves.

My gut is talking to me, and it's saying that I shouldn't have eaten 6 chili dogs yesterday but it's also telling me that it's gonna be something along the lines of a petting zoo or children's zoo type pack:
  • Patagonian mara
  • Squirrel monkey
  • Collared peccary
  • Mallard
  • And one of the following:
    • Budgerigars (WE)
    • Reticulated python (E)
Building theme will feature a mixture of farm and western pieces

Actually if they picked their choices right it could be completely different. Twilight pack came with more of a European style architecture while we could potentially see North America scenery set. Plus they could bring in species from Oceania and Asia, not just North America.

I don't think birds of prey should be WE animals.

Also is there any way to label a North America scenery set as another continental set but it still looks the same?

I ask cause I saw a good point that if we get a NA scenery set, we might get at least 2-3 NA animals like with the Tropical Pack. Honestly I don’t think there’s really any interesting animals left from NA other than the Canadian Goose which I’m pretty sure they won’t do.

I refuse to believe zoos actually keep canada geese, they just invade the zoo and make it their home.
