Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

I dont think the fact that their young are carried around is a dealbreaker. Anteaters and kangaroos also carry their offspring around but still got added
I didn't mean that in particular, its more their fast movements through the trees and constantly on the lookout for danger, the inquisitive nature and fidgeting and that's before considering the mother doing all this with a baby on it's back. What i am saying is that It could be that the technology isn't / hasn't been advanced / fast enough to recreate realistic movements in animation for the monkeys yet.

But does it have to be so accurate? I dont think anyone would complain more about their behaviour than they already do about our existing arboreal animals. I mean would i prefer for lemurs, capuchin and koala to climb more? Sure, but its nothing that stops me from wanting more monkeys.
And those arent even the only animals that dont behave like their real life counterpart. Crocodilians either float around in water or sit in one spot on land for like 95% of their day where as in game they wander around constantly.
And even then, there are more than enough species that spent large amounts of time on the ground like baboons and others.

So I now get why Planet Zoo has so little birds, according to Shepreth Zoo’s own website they only have 6 bird species at the whole zoo. It’s funny because I went to two local zoos with my brother in May, one of them had 37 bird species, the other had 22. I wonder if that could explain part of it? Besides maybe an obvious programming or polish issue?
It's mainly space - Shepreth is a very small wildlife park. It started as a local wildlife hospital - people would bring in hedgehogs, badgers and foxes that were hurt by cars or that they came across. Then the owner realised they needed a sustainable source of income and so bought a tiger. This was back in the early-mid 1900s. I believe his family inherited the park and decided to expand the private animal collection to draw in more visitors. All of the big attraction animals were kept in very small enclosures...they still are. The big cat enclosures are far, far too small. But they were kept really for the purpose of funding the small wildlife hospital. The park still have a very good hedgehog hospital and a local wildlife 'ambulance'.

So, they have one line of very small aviaries in a corner of the park and they take the birds out regularly to fly and exercise them. All the animals have a bit of extra space behind the scenes, eg the red pandas will be circulated out so that two are on display while the other two rest in a private space away from visitors. Many of the larger animals they have, such as the maned wolves, were hand-reared and the keepers play with them after closing time :) They do actually have more birds than are listed on their website - they've got (from memory) black and mute swans, many species of rare duck, some kind of crane and ibis, several species of owl and falcon. Possibly more than that but that's what I remember - I was last there a couple of times last summer.

I volunteered there for a bit many years ago and will never forget playing with the baby skunks after closing! They were like kittens, really sweet and playful and funny! The skunks they have have never sprayed because they're never scared - there's a nice thought for your Wednesday :)

Haha i can only imagine how that conversation went :D
"Yo we need some income to continue helping wildlife"
"How about getting a darn Tiger?!"
"Uhm... sure"

Zoos often don't include every species they have on their website, and mammals tend to be the best updated since they are more popular.

Try to look here instead https://www.zootierliste.de/en/map.php?showzoo=10001641 (hope the links work like that) - Click on the red spot when you open it
I only quickly checked put I got past 10. And there only is a total of 62 animals listed there which also include reptiles and amphibians. So not even that many spots left for mammals.

😂 except more Britishy - something like

"I say old chap, our hedgehog financials are looking rather on the spiky side, what?"
"Golly gosh you're RIGHT you old bean! Whatever shall we do about it?" twirls moustache
"By gubbins I've got it! What say you about procuring a...tiger?" refills their G&Ts
"What? From the colonies?" cosies the teapot
"Of course! They've got infinite quantities over there, my cousin shot a dozen just last week!" points at cousin Jimmy's portrait
"Spiffing idea chappy! Tally ho!" puts wellies on

I even read that in a Bri'ish accent

A less serious suggestion.. Let's go a little further out of the box, and break the standard formula to focus on game-play and roster variety.

Welcome to the 'Drenched Palms Animal Pack'

Alongside a free-update which provides hand-feeding pellet dispensers, foliage buckets and feeding 'gates' to habitats that'll generate any franchise some extra pocket-change, we receive a pack which comprises of 4 species that'll leave your hand dripping from water or saliva.. and four which will leave them drenched in sweat if you should ever find yourself in their firing line…

Hand-Feed Friendly:
  • Mandarin Duck
  • Pygme Goat
  • Masai Giraffe
  • Lorikeet - Walk-through
Sweat Inducing:
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Honey Badger
  • Takin
  • Piranha - Exhibit

In addition, The Giraffe and Flamingos already in game will now be able to be fed by the foliage and pellet dispensers respectively. Plans to update the Peafowl in a future update.

Whilst you’re waiting for your new arrivals to get settled, In the meantime, we anticipate a greater demand on your toilet stations, what with all the handwashing going-on. Perhaps the guests will enjoy the newly placable and interactable hand sanitizers also included, to give your caretakers and mechanics a break from all these soon to be clogged sinks! Or perhaps you’ll look to plan how to make good use of a few new additions to your foliage, including a few new species of Palm and un-eaten foliage litter!

Perfect oportuny to get a petting zoo pack before support ends, if we don´t I dont think we will ever do (yeah I know many people want flying birds but I don't think we will ever get those since the game is 3 years old and that would be a lot of work).

If the next pack is a farm/petting zoo pack, I'd be very dissapointed. A desert-like pack with only African animals and 5 of them are ungulates, and a petting zoo pack, the worst nightmare i could imagine 😂. ( please Frontier don't do the last thing, the other was sadly already done).

My perfect lineup would be Woodland Pack for Autumn and "Cold Regions Animal Pack" for December
(I wish both to be animal packs, but it's pure copium sadly)

Thanks for posting this link - it's fab. I've just wasted half an hour happily poking around - I'm on a mission to see as many bear species as I can and I can see that this wiill be a big help!

What's your animal roster for this Woodland Pack?
Here's mine! 😂 It's not realistic. I've honestly tried to find a definition for what a woodland is. It seems like it's used two ways from my understanding. 1. a tree-covered area 2. a sparsely forested area that allows light to reach the forest floor. I'm going with the second definition to make things more interesting. I don't really care about exhibits too much, so I left it blank. Maybe a small tortoise or turtle? So here's what I came up with:

Woodlands Pack:
1. Tasmanian Devil (Tasmanian coastal woodlands)
2. Short Beaked Echidna (inhabit Australia's Gulf County woodlands)
3. Black Howler Monkey (inhabits Cerrado woodlands/savanna)
4. South American Coati (inhabits Cerrado woodlands/savanna too!)
5. (E)?

I'll go with @Old Country theory of cabin style/Native American scenery. Doesn't really make sense because there are no NA animals, but a new horizontal wood set would be nice. Maybe sub a wolverine or coyote (not my preference) and it would make more sense. 😂
