Thought I'd start a thread on iconic spaceships etc. of TV and film, the ones you remember from your childhood or just love the look of.

Here's one to start it off.

Just love this ship. could have been a Elite ship,it's even called Eagle.

And the Heart of Gold from Hitchikers Guide to the galaxy

Not as pretty as it's described in the book "The Heart of Gold is the sleekest, most advanced, coolest spaceship in the galaxy. Its stunning good looks mirror its awesome speed and power. It is powered by the revolutionary new Infinite Improbability Drive, which lets the ship pass through every point in every univese simultaneously."

And it comes with one of these fantastic pieces of machinery !!

The Rodger Young from Starship Troopers and the dropship from Aliens has to get my votes. They are just fantastic designs.

Yep, the Aliens drop ship is one great ship. Love the extending arm system.

Steve OB posted pictures of the two ships I remember best from my yoof - The Millennium Falcon and the Liberator from Blake's Seven. Ah, the memories...

There was supposed to be a film of that was in pre-production for 2012. It seems after a quick check on IMDB that Morgan Freeman is now a producer, and the film is still in pre-production. Dunno if David Fincher is still going to direct it. If he does then the score will be brilliant because both Dragon Tattoo and Social Network were both done by Reznor/Ross.

Who remembers The Last Starfighter?

then there is this ship from 'Battle beyond the stars'

I gotta say this one looks like it should be wearing a bra

The Last Starfighter - One of the first commercial films to use wholly computer generated action sequences (and boy it shows now!) - Good fun though. Who can forget Death Blossom mode? Homage paid in ReBoot many years afterwards...

I always thought the ship from Battle Beyond The Stars looked like a moose head with mumps. Incidentally have you ever seen Space Raiders? It's all of the special effects shots from BBTS but with a different plot and actors. Almost universally panned because it virtually has no originality about it.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed
