Newcomer / Intro Faster travel to stations in multiple star system?

I am in Geras trying to find the Yurchikhin Port and it's not showing up. Looking at the system map, I see this system has 2 stars and I warped in on the wrong one. Is there a way to warp to the other one quickly that I'm not seeing or do I seriously have to make a 20 minute trip in supercruise? The travel is cool and immersive but is murdering my earnings per hour.

Alternatively, is there a way to affect which star you're warping in to from another system?

You jump to the greater mass in the system. At this point there is no micro jump, although there's been requests for it, and it might come later. Best bet until then is either bring a book, or before you accept a mission to a station, look at the system map and click on that station. All the stations now tell you their distance from the initial arrival point to the whole system.

I'm pretty sure the lead dev has posted that micro jumps between multiple stars in the same system are on his to-do list. With luck this will happen in 1.3.

In system mini-jumps are on the "might possibly be introduced at some in-determinant point in the future, maybe" list.

Micro jumps go against one of the main tenets of the game. Space is big, you need to feel it. While jumping to other stars in a system is a sensible request, it would set a precedent. There would be no real reason to prevent jumps to stations, RES area etc etc and space just becomes 1 click away.

Yeah, but something like only being able to micro jump to another star and not to a station could be explained pretty easily - The hyperdrive already only jumps to a very high mass object (star) - a microjump would need to have similar requirements...can only jump to objects that are x or .xxxx solar masses - using something like this they could even limit the type of star you could jump to etc. IDK if that fits lore or not...but it would work for me

This, pretty much. Maybe set things up so you need to find and scan the other star manually first, to provide adequate navigation data for the micro jump. That way you would still get to experience the scale of that particular system at least once.

I take the point about setting a precedent for other micro jumps though.

Why got just increase the acceleration speed of supercruise. It seem to take forever to get up to a decent speed.

As do I - I STRONGLY agree with the precedent setting on this - I dont want to be able to microjump everywhere - it would really ruin alot of things - imagine traders in open in lave or leesti - "oh no...pirates...*microjump enabled*..." lol - but I do like the idea of having to explore everything in supercruise first - get a detailed passive scan of each star - get the necessary nav data - great limiter on it

Just have to define certain parameters needed for it to operate.

1) Needs mass amounts of planetary or larger sizes. Eliminates direct to station jumps.

2) Needs accurate aim. While current hyperspace puts you at a predictable location, a microjump should be more of a piloting effort, being able to line up the jump. The more you're off, the more error creeps in, in which case you have to SC the rest of the way. Still benefit, just not as much as if you're careful.

3) Takes more fuel than a hyperspace, less that a SC. We've seen how efficiency vs distance scales with how travel is done, so this would make sense.

Completely arbitrary suggestions... Michael Brookes has already stated that jumping in system will only be available for other stars, probably with a minimum distance. And that is really all that is necessary.

I would prefer this to micro-jumps because I agree with Dommarraa about how micro jumps will shrink space. In most cases I think travel speed is exactly right, but once you're out in the black between two distant stars I don't think it would hurt terribly if the max speed ramped up more quickly and the absolute max was a good bit higher. Ideally getting to a star that's 20-40kls would be slightly quicker, 200kls would still take a while but be tolerable even if you had to do it several times a day, and the really big trips measured in fractions of a LY would still be long but not "go watch something on TV" long.

I like the idea that you could micro-jump only if you've already scanned the destination star.

Yeah, exactly - micro-jump can only happen for Stars - and if youve made the trip before etc. idk but as long as you cant jump to stations, planets then I think everything would be good

Cheers for the positive feedback on the scan-before-microjump idea folks.

Completely agree about not extending microjumps to planetary bodies but on the up side I seriously doubt it'll happen. In the original game design the plan was to microjump everywhere but that idea got nixed after player feedback - for exactly the reasons mentioned in this thread as I recall - and replaced with super cruise.
