Newcomer / Intro Favourite Elite moment so far

Best moment so far.....

Last night, I was hanging out at a Nav point hunting "wanted" ships with a midrange Sidewinder I had been building up for about a week. I had been there for about 90 minutes or so, and built up about 120K in bounties. I was just thinking about heading back in to the station to repair, cash in and browse some newe upgrades when I notice laser fire on the far side of my nav beacon. I burner over and ID the players in the furball, which turned out to be two or three Fed ships beating on an "wanted" Competent Adder. I gleefully join the fray and we manage to get him down to 12 percent on his hull. About this time, I manage to land a unintended burst of laser fire on one of the Fed ships who flew right in front of me and end up with the whole gaggle turned on *ME*. Needless to say, I tried to run, but had taken too much damage in the proceeding hour to have much of a chance. On goes the Remlok.......
The obvious lesson here is pretty clear. "CHECK YOUR FIRE IN A FURBALL, CMDR PYLE" !!

About an hour later: (same Nav point, about the same built up bounty to cash in) I see a single ship by itself pretty far out from the NAV point. I think it's an Anaconda, which I have never tangled with before. I wait for the scan, and sure enough he's wanted. I deploy hardpoints and get ready to engage. (Mind you, I am NOT listening to the little voice in my head that's wondering why this guy didn't even blink when I scan him and deploy hardpoints...) I pull my trigger and nail him right in the rear for the first salvo, then coast past him as he banks hard to come around for another pass.....

All of a sudden, **WHAM** - the whole freaking sky lights up and I see about 6 laser beams reaching out to slice my hull to pieces. This guy must have had everything he had set up for an Alpha strike. I glance down at my panel and notice my shield are down, my hull is about 19% and my windshield is gone and I am sucking vacuum. I instantly jam full burner to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE, praying I can get beyond range before he hits me again and I end up pulling another Sheperd. I manage to jump out and run like a rabbit back to port, where I docked with 9 seconds left on my oxygen. Thank GOD I had upgraded my life support or I'd have been floating again........

Not *only* do you check your fire, but you also check yout targets and probably shouldn't get your hummingbird a** into fights *alone* against guys who outgun you. This game is *unforgiving* to folks who get into moods where they have more b*lls than brains.

Just sayin.....

Getting my canopy blown to pieces for the first time. Was totally unaware that this is possible then.

Got a new fav
The Trading Post in Delta Phoenicis is a unique orbital, very humorous and a very nice change from all the others. You must go and see (It sells Rares)

Most of the platforms are replaced with domed gardens
Palm tree everywhere
Platform Holo's are a different font and PINK

You have to visit Sol. You will like it there.

Yes, Vonarburg Cooperative in Wyrd is exactly the same. Both are on my preferred rare trade route, should the fancy to travel take me. I had to see Vonarburg because I'd heard about it, but was pleasantly surprised to see Trading Post was the same. The owners clearly spent all their money on the design of the station and none on the name.

It's a shame there aren't more odd station designs.

Picking up some cargo canisters from a wreck in the middle of nowhere, flying back to Gidzenko Ring (due to the lack of knowledge of an Outpost with a Black Market...:) ), schwitzing like a pig while docking, thinking "Pleeeease don't scan me...!", making it and selling all the stuff for good credits. Immersion, immersion, immersion, at least for me it's working in the game!

Definitely having my cockpit window shattered. I had no idea that was even possible and once it broke I figured there was no way it would let me go into supercruise in this state so I thought I would take the remaining time (4 minutes or so, stock LS) to kill the guy who gave me a death sentence. 2 minutes to go and he went boom so I figured I may as well try to limp to the station. To my surprise, it let me enter supercruise and with a few precious seconds to go I'm boosting toward the envelope with everything I have. I get to the metal rails around the entrance when my last 2 seconds tick out. The hud goes dim and I'm dead. Lesson learned. Get your butt to a station if your window shatters!

I can't say that I have a particular moment. It's an overall wonder at the graphics & immersion along with the realisation that this is what I longed for 30 years ago. Having said that, losing the glass is very impressive, but I think the close approach to a planet with rings, watching the dust become tiny specs of rocks before you drop out of Frame Shift beats it!

One of my favourite moment has to be coming out of hyperspace the first time and seeing as star fill the cockpit as I hurtle towards it at a fair rate of knotts, damn well gave me the fright of my life! I mean who puts a nav point in front of a sun?!:D
My mate came round one night and I showed him E.D. for the first time and ended up showing off my crap skillz and flew to close to a Sun. 'd the ship and broke the canopy. Made a quick exit for the nearest station but ran out of time and air, at least 10 meters away from the docking port. I could've held my breath and pushed myself out the broken canopy and floated into the station!;)
One more, the time I was interdicted by another player, he was sporting and opened up the coms, instead of shooting first, I like this touch, and asked if I was hauling any cargo? I was, a grand total 12 auto-fabricators for a trade mission, and after a bit of witty banter, he'd actually admitted he'd forgot to install a cargo scanner and had no cargo space left either, so I made a run for it claiming I had no cargo. Worst Pirate ever, lol! :D
