FC interior Update 11 will/not cost 25€

Barely 6 months gone with EDO in a still not all that great a state (to put it mildly) and people already want to throw more money at FDev after a premium priced Early Access/"Alpha" release in AAA price territory (47 Euros here for the 'premium' version)?

And it's not as if a lack of funds is the real problem here.

Either way - I'll be curious what/if will come with FC interiors in terms of customisation options, because for whatever reason FDev never bothered to release new FC exterior cosmetics - not even a single new skin, or layout - after the initial batch that came with the carrier launch in 2020.

It's almost as if they don't want/need the money, isn't it.
The lingering suspicion (given the leaks) was / is that a lot of the content we are getting as 'extras' was really just late EDO stuff. If EDO had come with the headline updates (new SRV, turrets, FC interiors, Panther etc) and it was working to U9 /10 standard people would not be as hopping mad as they are- it would still be simmering away but not as raw.

Precisely where I'm at... I'm more at ease with the game as it is now, but there's still a way to go, and if the game was released in this state as opposed to what it originally did, I'd probably not have stopped with Arx purchases (nothing since EDO released, and this will remain the case, thanks to how cosmetics were/are handled between Horizons and EDO) as I usually would've bought a pack or two with new content; on FCs alone I probably spent about 50 Euros over time.

I'm not inclined to put any more money into this game until some major updates occur, in the form of proper new content, not just drip feeding missing features previously cut from release, but also until all cosmetics are fixed and look at least vaguely comparable to what they used to in Horizons. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.

Even the Christmas sales left me completely cold, that used to be my most expensive period of the year in terms of splurging on Arx packs. At least my credit card is breathing a sigh of relief these days so silver linings.

Well one thing that may point to the future- I saw on Burr Pits video (I think) CQC was getting some love (Arthur using his eyebrows like he did with FC interior questions) so maybe FD have got the message.

Now if only said brows spelt out Powerplay in semaphore

CQC... out of all the placeholders in the game they pick the one that is completely separate from the game?

Actually, makes sense.(y)🤦‍♂️

I'm not a PP anorak but I honestly don't understand why they keep avoiding it like the plague... if it was more fleshed out and more fun to engage in it (with some QoL changes like not having to load merits 10 at a time), I'd for sure would explore it more as a playstyle, beyond simply module shopping every 4 weeks.

CQC is fun, and could be brought into the game via concourse booths and in game adverts. It deserves love and its only really from neglect it sits in the shadows.

PP done well could (can?) be a mini SW Squadrons / Infinity Battlescape inside ED. But it requires guile to push the button, and FD were achingly close last time.

It can be fun (unless you get into a session with Musketeer obviously!) but it would need to be further integrated into the main game for me to start caring about that red progress bar on the right hand panel... and they can't even integrate EDO properly into their game so I'm not holding my breath.

As for PP, I hear you.

Yeah, I don't get it either. If people want to give Frontier more money, there are plenty of existing ways to do that. Think Fleet Carrier interiors are (somehow!) worth £25? Buy yourself another alt, then.

And it's not as if a lack of funds is the real problem here.
Indeed. Frontier's finances are already pretty solid. From their latest report:
- record revenue of 90.7 million in the last financial year
- record profit of almost 20 million in the last financial year
- over 40 million cash in the bank

(I mean, I like Elite Dangerous, I'm looking forward to FC Interiors, I'm certainly not going to pay any more than I've already paid for Odyssey for them)

For me it all feeds into 'the dream'- in my head CQC is the ingame sport and the amount of cross pollination possible is incredible but left untapped. Its where I feel FD let the game down by keeping everything isolated and not blended into a lovely gaming milkshake.
