FD: Apparently Elite got noticed, not in a good way

Thankfully that's an option for most of us. Unfortunately most new players will have no idea what's going on.

Well, given that it's an obvious option on the screen when you start, I doubt this assertion. If anyone was stupid enough not to notice solo mode, they're probably too stupid to play, anyway.

In any case, bunch of bored EvE griefers (and who can blame them for being bored?) are not really a terrifying concept. Let them fight the local tooled-up griefers. The networking and instancing in ED are so terrible that it's not going to bother the average player, anyway. Excuse me if I don't need to run and change my undergarments right away.

("OH NOES, GRIEFERS IN LAVE...", surely not?)

The best part is that they pay to fail to make a difference, funding the further development of the game. Win.

Apparently a large group of players from multiple corps on EvE are deliberately targeting Elite,
The plan is apparently to target and grief the living crap out of people, new players specifically until people quit and the game dies off.
I'd imagine eventually they'll lose interest and give up, but from the sounds of things you'll have a very large group (by Elite standards) of players from outside of the Elite community targeting your player base.

Let them come, they might like it and stay ... i think we should have some confidence in elite, it may be the young upstart but i believe it can be way better than EVE.

Good thing Elite is not Eve and has the Solo button

Well I looked over at EVE Onlines reddit page and apparently the group called code in this game is the same group that's in EVE Online so maybe that is the people that you've been talking about who are determined to grief in this game but honestly who cares a group of people are not going to kill a game for everyone

No, they aren't. Even the names aren't the same (EvE's group is C.O.D.E. while ED's is The Code). @Anopheles, if you read this thread, I think you should consider making a public announcement regarding this if you don't want the rumor that you are a bunch of evil frustrated EVE griefers tried to destroy ED to spread any further ^^

Oh and before anyone starts explaining me how I am clearly mistaken because GalNet writes it "CODE" rather than "The Code", and that two groups with so similar names in two space games MUST necessarily, in fact, be the same group because, you know, Illuminati and all that ... Just head over there and read the first sentence. It will save everyone's time

yeah thanks for clearing that up I went and looked back at the post and youare right the name is different either way there is a pretty big similarity in the names and it is a pretty big coincidence that a group in this game would pick the name of a disliked group from another space mmo it doesn't matter though I find it pretty funny that they spent money on this game to try to bring the game to the ground when all they're going to do is make it better for development

Ooooooh there are what 20-50 players that spend 50 Bucks each to "destroy" an other game because uhhmmm it is also a scifi game? ^^
I almost only play solo anyway. But what they think they might do? This isn't eve with a couple of systems, and no regular MMO where all players start in the same village or something.
And even if they are lurking on Lave, SOL, Achenar and Allioth all the Time what would they achieve? Forcing new players for two weeks in solo, till they know how to fight and can afford
vultures themself and bite back on them. Sounds ok. Let them come.

What was really amusing is going back to one of the starter systems in my Vulture to help a mate get off the ground, funnily enough while flying in a wing we didn't get any grief from anyone I should go back at somepoint and do some player bounty hunting...

LOL, 1st they have to buy the game (thanks for ur $$) and become proficient at it...and then they'll realize with 400 billion systems their attempt is futile and by the time they realize (hey this isn't like eve at all!) they'll be decimated by the honorable veterans who guard the ED universe against such stupidity.

Is this another "Goons" are coming thread... please goons are in every game but EVE. They won't do anything to Elite. If its not goons then they still won't do anything to Elite due to how its setup.
