FD, please explain ......

This is just some light hearted banter, please try to keep is so, let logic fall to the wayside, common sense has jumped out the window. So lets hear your "... why .... but" questions, there must be hundreds out there :D

... why I have to lower my ship into the hanger if I just want to look at the configuration of the ship, or I want to change a bobblehead, or just look what modules I have in storage
... but I can get the entire armour of the ship swapped out, either at an Engineer or remotely, or even get this ship repainted/repaired whilst the ship is sitting in on the pad?

... why I have to 'pay' to get a module engineered with scrap I have picked up
... but if I change the engineering on a module I get nothing back? It's not like a lumps of sulphur and selenium, some wiring from a discarded Heat Conductor, and a conductive Component I picked up in space after I blew up the ship it was in will somehow increase my Power Plant by 26%. We know you and your ilk are trying to corner the market on second hand space trash, just admit it.

... why an Engineer makes me jump through a series of senseless hoop just for the privilege of them doing some magic with an photon screwdriver
... but if I grab a blueprint I can now get the exact same engineering done by any spanner turner at any station that displays a sign stating 'Remote Engineering Here While You Wait'.

... why I have to fly to an Engineer's super secret lair to get an experimental effect applied to a module
... but if my ship goes boom I can instantly get an exact replacement, right down to the experimental effects as long as I have enough money for the insurance.

I'll have three of whatever Mooka is having. :)

Why...do corporations and factions offer clearly illegal missions on an open mission board, why is there a open black market that everyone including the authorities can see, without consequence?
But...If I as much as nudge another ship coming out of the slot at 101ms, or pick up cargo from a pirate who was trying to kill me, I'm branded a criminal?

Why...are player factions given control of some of the biggest and most influential systems in the bubble?
But...a normal player has to work for days just to move the dial an inch on the BGS

Those questions have been haunting me too, OP. In fact I even got more:
Why does 90% of planetary settlements seem to be on the dark side of planets? Do they hate solar power in the future?
Why do the orbital stations seem to have the most stupid aligment possible? AFAIK one of the main reasons stations are created to avoid gravity wells. So why are they oribiting in the planet's planes so I often must circumvent the bloody planet to reach it?
Why can I only make a docking request 75.000 cm from a station while I can recieve a message from the "mysterious stranger" lightyears away instantly? And why can't I block that whiner while you're at it?
Why do we have to fully land on any station just to exchange cargo? Why aren't there airlock docks for that?
Why can't I jump with hardpoints depolyed? Is it because of the wind drag in space?
Why does my SRV get damaged for bumping into a pebble with a wheel with full shields on?
Regarding engeneering mats: why do I have to keep harvesting data mat over and over? Ingame 1286 years ago computers already have a specific ability. Which is triggered by "ctrl c" - "ctrl v"

While you're being reanimated, your insurance agent visits all 300 engineers to reapply the experimental effects. It is only instant from CMDR's perspective.

Now the real question is:

... why do other CMDRs have Cobra MkIV
... but I don't.

What?

Like why my super-clever ship doesn't have the gumption to realise that I'm approaching the surface of a planet at around 800 m/s in FA-Off (with throttle zero'd) and it isn't the optimum speed for a safe landing so switches FA-On in time to stop me leaving a pretty Courier sized crater and a heap of scrap metal on the surface?

(Of course I didn't forget, and no, I'm not bitter at all 😤)

Why can our greatest engineering firms manufacture advanced docking computers and supercruise assist modules enabling automatic docking at busy starports and calculating advanced orbit dynamics... But not make a simple Frameshift Drive autopilot...

Why can my navigation system display the entire galaxy filtered by star types, system economics etc... But not allow me to plot a single waypoint between me and my destination...

:-D

Why can my ship plot a course of 10000 Ly
but my FC captain doesn't grasp the concept of jumping to the next destination after the 5 minute cooldown is up?

Why can my navigation system display the entire galaxy filtered by star types, system economics etc... But not allow me to plot a single waypoint between me and my destination...
any why can't it display state and government type at the same time?

It originally did, then the insurance companies started a protest that "you cannot prevent a disgruntled owner of an asp scout to express his disdain for the company that made this atrocity in the ultimate manner". Also called "the right for your insurance rate to go up" protest - not everybody enjoys the warming umbrella of Pilot's Federation, you know.
:ROFLMAO:
