Fdev could you bring back some of the old hyperspace stuff

On another slightly separate though somewhat related note, when playing on headphones during late evenings, I find that the enter/exit of hyperspace is much, much lauder than the rest of the game (regardless of 'normal' or 'night' setting on the audio page). So much lauder in fact that I have to decrease the volume by half just to avoid ear damage risk everytime I'm going hyperspace.

I'd really appreciate if FD could consider few additional sliders in audio for specific sounds like that or the SRV engine at full-speed as well as the wave scanner, for those of us more sensitive to sudden huge DB hits to our ears.

I would just love some audio leveling to the docking bays inside stations at times. 10x louder than everything else in game including the honk.

I think it was Dav, who explained it in a live stream. The actual loading of assets is very short and not a big factor, setting up the instance is, especially if it contains lots of other players.

I was pretty sure he said the exact opposite - and you know, he would, being as he's the guy that does all the networking stuff. :)

Also gents keep in mind that the FSD jump is literally a loading screen, you can't expect a gameplay to be added to it since it would then stop being what it is - a loading screen.

Actually games during loading screens are a thing - one company actually had the copyright to them (Namco Bandai if I remember correctly) but I think it expired, so anyone can do it now.

So they could, it'd have to be pretty minor and not matter much, as many people get judders during the hyper space loading screen, though. (or they could improve the asyncronous loading, I guess...)

Sure, but I mean with everythign that you said, is it even going to be worth it if it's to be minor and limited? You know, squeezing a 'minigame' somewhere just for the sake of being able to do so isn't good enough I think. If there was a good idea behind it that wouldn't grow old after 10 times, then sure, why not I suppose.

It does depend on how good the minigame is.

For example, I have advocated in the past for a fully functioning version of the original Elite to be playable on one of the side control panels. Long supercruise trip? Spending 80% of your time in witchspace waiting for the next instance to load? Docked in a station waiting for a friend to make the 10 jumps to meet you for some wing action? No matter - just fire up the original Elite on the right-hand panel for some retro space trucking so you can play Elite while waiting to be able to play Elite Dangerous.

Jumping in and out of Witchspace has come a long way! I'd love to see some further refinement and improvement. Someone else mentioned 3D clouds instead of the flat ones we currently have.

I'd also like to see a more seamless drop from Witchspace into supercruise at the main star. Looking back at those older videos, the drop out itself looked better. Now, it feels so abrupt going from a small glowing dot in the distance abruptly to a large star. There doesn't seem to be enough transition from the pinpoint in the distance in Witchspace to the actual star. The flash in the older animation did a good job of hiding that transition. With where the game is at now, I think FDev can do an even better job transitioning out of Witchspace to make it seem more seamless.

Old one looks amazing and fresh. Probably because I used to current one.
Current one seems like more epileptic and ear friendly.
Old one is good for "story line" during which only one or jumps performed. Doing 5 jumps in a row will kill "wow" effect.
Current one is already boring because of recognizable image patterns (same differently rotated flat images).

Lol, uber-cheesy music but the Hyperspace visuals + exit feel somewhat better than what they are now - they feel more volumetric and abstract instead of having what looks like clearly-definable bodies and light sources. Also exit animation seem smoother than what the game has now. I wish there was some subtle variation in sound and visuals and not the exact same thing everytime. Hardly the biggest problem of Elite at present, but still.

I feel the same way. When you look at the older beta clips, you can see there's a more subtle "dissolve" between Witchspace and it's exit to the main star. Now, it feels like such a harsh drop out of Witchspace. It almost feels like a jump cut from the loading screen whereas before, they did a better job of more seamlessly transitioning from the Witchspace loading screen into the exit.

It drives me nuts every time I jump and the main star just pops in as you exit Witchspace.

It already is, (relative to something anyways) time spent in hyperspace is relative to the number of assets to be loaded in and your current internet speed...

No, it is not "already there". It's a fixed time-period load screen or one that varies slightly depending on the net connection. Don't agree? Get your stop watch out and make a video showing different systems with varying assets and I'll retract this post.

OP, yep, so many 'good things' have been replaced with 'bad things'. Rather just get rid of faux load screens altogether but this game is built around them (instancing).

It needs to be terrifying.

The vid from the Alpha....the cockpit and the lighing look so much better than the current version.

The cockpit looks older and 'used'.

I love it.

FD, make it so.

I would like to se a longer star transition when I drop in a system. It would help to realize the real star size and I would like to have access to the ship system menus and all the GUI.
More variations, at least 10 different animation in hyperspace (completely different in terms of effects and colors) and random time (only few secs variation). At the moment the hyperspace transition is like a song chours and I can tell exactly the moment the ship drops in the new system. It should be a bit more random.
