And this is why you should never assume anything.
And if he breaks the contract then what? Take the key away from him? Then he can tell everyone Fdev 'forced' him to sign a contract only saying positive stuff.
Well no I wouldn't work with him either because I would want my product to be displayed in the best possible light free of even a smidge of criticism.
However as a player of Elite? I'm unconcerned with "optics" and just want the best game experience possible. The more content creators who call out the bad and don't shill, the better we all are in the end.
Like duck, yes. Now I expect the Adder commanders to step in and dismantle me.
Obtuse is the principle fare here, nitpicking a fine art and misinformation is stock-in-trade...
The forum could almost be any PR agency...
He could choose not to sign it, and at least Fdev can say they tried.

Are there any shills you could point me to? I don't really watch many reviews of things because I like to make up my own mind. But I can't remember the last time I saw a video that was saying everything's amazing and there's nothing to be worried about. Certainly not ones who are hiding the fact that they're working in collaboration with Frontier.

My thoughts:
Yamkis didn't sign up to be an officially recognised content creator (this is noted on reddit) so is not eligible for any of the handouts from FD.
This works both against him (he has to pay for a key) and in his favor (he can post whatever he wants without FD leaning on him).
Net result is a lot of publicity for his streams andhe has the reputation for being impartial he has the perception of being unswayed by FD.

Simple answer is he can't be trusted. He was really abrasive at lavecon towards the devs. He's just generally not a nice person to be around and that's from being around him at several of the bigger events. One of those people who thinks they're better than others and that the rules don't apply...

As an aside, years ago I was involved with a long gone lego forum where we were given handouts from Lego to review. We could write whatever we wanted but if we posted spoilers for anything upcoming we had the freebies revoked and a legal letter - often from the evil Disney - I was caught at the London toy fair on a covert mission

Obsidian Ant did a vid recently that basically pointed out a bunch of bugs and problems with the game - however he managed it without using the vocabulary of a drunk sailor at an Irish wake.
Manufactured drama. FDev are not a nation state. They're free to provide samples to whoever they like, be they cronies or not. None of my business.
It boggles my mind that people can't grasp a company might not to advertise via, and tacitly endorse, someone who is essentially a shock-jock.
I wouldn't give free samples of cheese and pickle to someone who said I should be F'd in the A, regardless of how many pals he had.

I am not going to "name and shame" here of course. Also I appreciate ALL content creators so don't want to appear that I'm bashing some over others. There are just some I trust less than others to provide an actual critical take on a game feature or implementation.
Also "to shill" doesn't necessarily mean one is getting directly paid to say good stuff about something. So there's that...
To clarify.
There is no access to the game before Alpha lands next week.
Not for streamers. Not for licensed partners. Not for Nvidia or Microsoft. Not for ANYONE outside Frontier personnel themselves.
The only thing sent out to media is a copy of video and image assets shortly before official release and under strict embargo, as is apparent from the streamers dropping hasty reviews shortly after 7pm last night and the game review stream in the media from 2045 last night.
There seems to be some myth perpetuating that there have been people who have pre alpha access which simply isn't true.
