FDev in Diamondback Scout Conspiracy!

@nosleepdemon: The DBS is not the only ship with a limited range of currently buyable cosmetic customisation options (paintjobs/ship kits)...
  1. Unlisted ships
    1. All 3 Guardian SLFs
  2. 3 option ships
    1. Alliance Crusader
    2. Cobra Mk IV
    3. Diamondback Scout
    4. Type-7
  3. 4 option ships
    1. Diamondback Explorer
    2. Imperial Clipper
    3. Imperial Eagle
    4. Imperial Fighter (SLF)
    5. Taipan (SLF)
  4. 5 option ships
    1. Alliance Challenger
    2. Asp Scout
    3. Federal Fighter (SLF)
    4. Imperial Courier
    5. Keelback
    6. Type-6
    7. Viper Mk IV
This is of-course ignoring the extra paintjobs that were either free or time limited specials.

In short, there are enough ships low down in the customisation pecking order that any claim of conspiracy seems at least a bit unfounded.

If you have particular paintjobs or types of ship kits that you would like to see made available for any given ship then there is always the Suggestions sub-section of this forum. :)

MY EYES!

What it needs is a cockpit fan like in Russian Mi-24. A cockpit fan will create a cultish following for any spaceship.

For what it's worth...my DBX is my second favorite (after the Beluga) but most flown currently. I've always liked its kit (though I think it should have four slots), but aside from the random chrome paintjob...it also has only base paintjobs available. I've always found it odd that one of the most popular ships in the game has seen so little attention for microtransactions.

The X certainly is no S, but it's the thought that counts ;)

What I find odd is that all these people who supposedly love DBX failed to notice that their cockpit got noticeably different about a year ago. It has blue panels that emit yellow light and it's right there in front of you.

The DBS' cockpit is similarly bugged but I realize it's a less popular ship so the lack of awareness is understandable.

The DBX though... maybe it's not as popular as everybody thinks. Or they all fly kraits now.

I used to fly DBS all the time back when I played. I quit shortly after the big exploration update (coincidence) and came back a week ago. I can't say I have noticed anything particularly glaring in the cockpit but I will have a look again.

Edit: Played again tonight, not quite sure what you are referring to. My cockpit is lit up blue from my HUD.

DBS lights and panels are still blue. Everything else however is now the DBX cockpit model. No exposed hoses, yellow paint interior, etc. It's literally the DBX cockpit except it retained the blue lights.

The DBX kept its cockpit model but the screens and panels are now blue, which were originally yellow. It looks especially weird because the lighting coming from them remains yellow.

Oh my God you are right! I can't even remember exactly when it happened. First they neglect the poor DBS, then they literally rip off its head and replace it with something inferior! The sheer cheek of it.

shrug

I'm a console player, so I can't say I paid that close attention to it. I bullrushed to a Beluga Liner (as already mentioned, still my favorite ship) and didn't actually 'love' my DBX until only about eight months or so ago. I actually sold my first one off to help buy a Federal Dropship.

Now though, my DBX (the Kharak Hymn, SJET99) is my second favorite - Christmas lights and all. A-rated and engineered for multi-role, I often wish it got more combat use on my way into and out of the bubble on deep space tours. Love using it for planetary work, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for the Alliance Crusader if it didn't have those darn military-locked optionals. LOVE the looks of the alliance Lakon ships.

Anyhow...this thread has convinced me to get a DBS and fool around with one. I guess I sorta 'skipped it' when I went from the Hauler to the DBX, then Dolphin onwards to medium ships.
