I want a jet-black Dolphin. That has to be pretty easy 
How did the contest work last time? Do FD provide ship templates/blue prints for contestants to colour in or do you have to have knowledge of 3D modelling to enter?

But before the competition starts, some clear guidelines as to what happens to the entries would be appreciated .... I think last time a lot of brilliant ones never saw the light of day again. At least tell us the three top entries will be available in store ... or available for CG participation, or something on those lines
If they do decide to do it again I hope they include a template for the FAS and FDL - both ships are in dire need of some creative designs. The FAS actually already has an awesome community made skin but it's not available for sale

That's not a community skin. That was a prize for special effects, a one of created by Frontier for the winning bid.

Getting this skin I submitted to the previous competition into the game is the only way I am ever going to replace my chrome cobra.

Unless I'm mistaken I recall the person who first posted those images (the guy who won the skin) mentioned they were made by a member of the community.
Give em time, they are still sorting through the video competition from last week!
I'm hopeful that Brett, Ed and the folks over there can look maybe at the end of they year when the conventions are largely out the way and people have mostly stopped going outside.
But yes, I love seeing what the community comes up with, some of them are stunningly professional. Also I still want the T9 Friesian skin (http://www.fenris.co.uk/elite/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/LakonSpaceCow.png) <- Why is this not a thing yet
