Just placing a bet here:

basic Fleet Carrier cost: 800.000.000 cr

reason: it will cost more then an A-rated I-Cutter (approx 600.000.000 cr)
I think they'll put the basic at 1b, and then the additional modules like exploration, etc, will be extra, so a fully equipped might end up closer to 5 or maybe even 10 b.cr.

Well, we'll see.

At one time we did seem to have a consensus that a basic Carrier would start at around 1bn.
But this is not a basic Carrier, many of us were expecting something smaller. This has been advertised as carrying 16 ships (8 of them Large), with a jumprange of 500ly, as standard, right out of the box.

It will be billions. 5 to 10 billion? Can't be too much, as individual players need to stump up the cash.

Early PS4 backers should get one for free, especially since we were robbed of our CMIV!

I agree, but only if PS4 owners get a carrier equivalent to a Cobra IV. This means: the ps4 free carrier has only 3 small landing pads, and room to store 10 modules, but only E rated. It also has a 25ly maximum jump range, but with the same fuel requirements as a normal carrier. It has a nice lounge for winding up, with elephant butt leather couches.

I'll need a trading carrier just to hold all these elephants!

Don't know how much they will be but for sure i WANT one.
Could care less about them before the announcement, now i am all over it.
What a Christmas this will be.

My wager, 6.5 to 8.0Bcr, and a single player cannot by one. It will take a squadron to do it.

EDIT: and I'll bet you will need a crew (multi-crew) to drive it.

Ownership

  • Purchasable with a large amount of credits.
  • One Fleet Carrier per Commander. Available for base game and Horizons players.

We have about 4 months till the Fleet Carriers are ready to purchase and they are going to be expensive,. I am sure many are eagerly waiting for their release but not sure what the cost will be. Can you give us a ballpark price or maybe not to exceed so we can start earning credits needed. It would be helpful to all to have a rough idea an give us all sometime to Shoot for or Mine for.

I feel a new gold rush coming on, and game activity will rise along with Steam numbers
How do you feel about your own personal CG?

"Purchasable with a large amount of credits" is a given, as close to gospel as we get around these parts until and unless someone declares it apocryphal.

But what if they were also hirable for a more reasonable but still significant weekly or monthly rate, either as a pure rental or as purchase installments? It would open carriers up to pretty much anyone, solo or squadron, who could use them to earn enough credits to cover the rental and still make a profit. If the rates scaled with carrier size and/or number of active docking bays this would also provide some parity between squadron sizes; more CMDRs would make more money per unit time, but the carrier rental would be higher.

Fail to make your payments, the carrier is repossessed and you can't hire another until you have at least one payment in the bank. Super-rich CMDRs could still buy them outright.

There would need to be some workaround for deep space explorers, maybe some sort of IOU based on systems scanned but not yet handed in.

But hey, this is just spitballing. It's ED, so we'll likely get an initial cost that's either ridiculously low or insanely high, followed by one or two excessive reactionary nerfs or buffs, after which everyone will just come to accept wherever it ends up by default.

I'd like to see Fleet carrier not only cost Credits... (massive credits).....(MASSIVE credits), but also have a steep material grind to unlock them and their sub systems.
A fleet carrier should take forever to build and be almost a full time job to upkeep. You gotta want that carrier to keep that carrier. Its a labour of love. No casuals allowed.
