FDev: why no "Buy All" and "Sell All" buttons in trading ?

Do any of you developers actually fly a T9 or greater around, I don't think you do for if you did you would see that the new counter is incredibly frustrating, so annoying that I almost aborted a 1449 item mission at the thought of sitting there waiting for the stupid counter to fill the hold.

This was a golden opportunity to implement one of the most requested changes to trading "Buy All" and Sell All", but nah suffer you trading fools.

I just shake my head.
 
My idea with the current scheme is this, Retain the current counter for low quantity smoothness, (no whack a mole counter with undershoot and overshoot as with the previous counter). On the current Buy button and adjacent to the Buy button place additional tabs which depict "Buy All" and "Sell All"

{Sell All} ( Buy ) {Buy All}

Thid would also remove the current annoyance of clicking the "Buy" button and nothing happens because the supply is less than the requested Buy quantity.

What I would really like to see is a slick method for the buying of stacked cargo missions.
EDIT: From the clunkyness of the cargo buy/sell/trading UI's I get the impression that senior Dev's don't play/trade at all in "real time" for if they did there would be major improvements to those UI's.

Here a better idea. To be able to type in the amount you want. It caters to both you and me. So if I wanted 50% of 1449 I could type in 724 or a quarter of it. I could type in 362.
 
In VR keyboards are forgotten as well...

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I don't use a keyboard and mouse to play this game, I use a controller, I'd do so even in 2D.

Well using just the keypad on your keyboard should not be a problem even for a novice of users. We also have Third party software that can help also. Voice Attack would work. You can say the number and it would add it automatically.

In VR that would require > headset up > keyboard > headset on > fiddle to get it comfy > continue play, far to clunky, impractical and immersion breaking , especially if one has to do it multiple times in one sitting.

Voice Attack would work. You can say the number and it would add it automatically.
I would get voice attack just for that feature if they implemented it.

Let make it easier for you. You can use a tv Remote right or a phone right or even the calculator. They all have the same 10 numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0.

Calculators or keyboard It always

7,8,9 top
4,5,6 Middle
1,2,3 Bottom
0 and Enter is with your pinky

Also, note the F and J and on the Calculator key, 5 is keyed for Visually Impaired or blind people and touch typist. So having the VR headset you should be able to type in the amount that you want. Oh, Note you can also buy an external number pad for a laptop which will work for Desktops. So it will not need a large keyboard. It could be right next to your hand.

I would get voice attack just for that feature if they implemented it.
Well You can go in the Galaxy map and tell it Wolf 602 example and it will automatically type it in and hit enter. So having it use by Missions or Buying or selling cargo. Should not be a non-issue.
 
The absence of a "sell all" button has always seemed wrong. I haven't tried the game after patch, but I really expected that this was part of what they fixed.
 
You guys are roleplaying space trading but don't like the actual trading gameplay? What's next, an immediate "I WIN" button that just spams you with credits?

There will be a separate Bulk Trading Computer introduced in the next update, for "trading challenged" new players who honestly should get rid of such a crutch at first opportunity. Therefore, this computer will consume a size 1 module slot but on the other hand, one extra slot will be added to every ship. This is a Quality of Life improvement after all! Except for those who will use that slot for hitpoints, you know, with the drag frags being the latest craze and all.

And now I'm off to stare at the ETA clock because that's how we fly our spaceships in this spaceship flying game.


Sincerely sorry for the hijack but I just couldn't resist. I guess I'm still a bit salty because my mats grinding AspEx now has cruise control but my Chieftain doesn't, because it's not frickin' default functionality of each and every space ship in the 34th century. For the record, I support all sorts of convenience features in ED so yes, you guys should have your buy/sell all button, and implemented in a straight forward way, too. Personally I trade a handful of void opals or painite every now and then, so I don't really care one way or the other. But I can see how the current system can be a nuisance.

As you're a infrequent trader I'd be curious as to your impressions of the trading UI. Would you mind stacking a few "source" and "deliver" missions and to then be so kind as to express your opinion of the UI here please.
 
I've been just throwing around useless snide remarks in the forums for my entire posting history so far, and now you're suggesting I actually contribute something to the community?

Can do. I'm at GMT+2, I'll fire up my mining T9 for a few trading missions tonight and let you know how I feel about the user experience of it. I hope I can cover the rebuys, with everyone and their grandma testing drag frags out there.
