I think this is a it unsettling. How far is FD going to change their world, to turn it into a memorial? Renaming a station? A faction? A planet? A system? When do you go past a nice homage into something that can break the game world? If FD have done two memorials like this in a short period, are they planning on allowing for more?

Well I do think everyone means well... but really, why? There are so many ways that we could have chosen to honour Nimoy and Pratchett, both in and out of the game. Does it have to be something as outstanding as a station, a world, the political factions in an entire system?
The way I thought the Leonard Nimoy memorial was going to be done, was that we would get a little outpost in orbit around Vulcan, maybe with a special ''Outpost building Block'' that would contain some kind of readable plaquette or a statue. Something like that. Now, they instead decided to nuke WCM Transfer. That system had a story, a place in the game: The WCM Corporation worked with extraction planetside and used the station as a place to gather deliveries from planetside for interstellar transport. Now that's gone. Not important, maybe, not important.

Oh I am happy if people disagree with me, I actually welcome disagreement, you see it's only when disagreeing is progress made. When Stephenson made "Rocket", did everyone sit there and go "I say Sir, I have to agree that is the best engine ever." ... or did someone go "I disagree with your engine and I'll make a better one!" ? I think the fact we have much better technology today proves my point. So while I am often in the position of many people disagreeing with me, just because the majority hold a different opinion, does not make them automatically correct.

At the end of the day it's FD's game so they can name anything whatever they like. Don't like it? Go make your own game and play that.
