FD's largest downfall- communication

I find other players not knowing anything about mayhem, and well, pretty much all the new info/events that FD releases. Why? Because FD has no In game or in launcher way to communicate this stuff!

FD, please stop relying on your forums and twitter to get this stuff to you players! Not all your player base is forum active or has u on twitter! We need in game access or at least in launcher access to this stuff!!!!! U even changed merits and PP stuff awhile back and... The launcher news section still just has 1.3 release stuff... Wth!?

That does make sense to have the information in the launcher. Do we really need to see old patch notes? Maybe they could put a link by the Manual link titled Newsletter. However, I don't mind receiving the newsletter by email. :)

Putting information like this under the comms panel in the main menu would indeed do wonders for getting the word out.

All that information is available on the ED website. There's galnet and dev blog. And weekly newsletters.

Same for CG's, they are announced in the ED community website and ingame galnet, yet every odd day someone complains that they cannot find where the CGs are.

The information is there for those who seek it.

I approve of this post. The launcher indeed needs to be the first point of information.

This quite seems to be the FD Elite philosophy:

Why do something in an unser friendly way, when we can make players work hard for it, like real men? Will give them a sense of accomplishment and hence better value for their gaming time...

It is a good point actually.

Although the players certainly have no trouble communicating to FD :)

Yeas they need to get them self to a crash course in communications
+ Implent ingame chatt that works

I said to FD 97% of your player base never ever visit forums and twitter isnt the way to communicate

INGAME there is your gaming and customers the only one reading/post on forums are the ones who are hired to read or have no irl life and your paying customers isnt 14 years more like grandpas ...

If only there was some kind of official FD channel for information on the game, where we could be informed about things like Mayhem, CGs, game news, etc, without having to read forums or have twitter accounts...

Oh wait!

And yet people apparently don't get access to the information.
If people can't find information, something needs to change. For starters, where's the link to the community page in the launcher? This one's obvious. People who play this game arent telepathic. Not all people subscribe to newsletters or read forums. A big button on the launcher that say something like ''Latest Community News'', linking to the community news, is hard to miss, simple, and probably pretty effective. I think that this would go a long way to solve this problem.

Shame Galnet is pretty much unusable at this point because of those "top 10 elections! top 10 outbreaks! top 10 booms!" spam posts and all that power play info.

Well if people are not willing to lift a finger to get what they need, then nothing will ever be enough.

An official game website is the most obvious candidate as source of information about a game. If some people can't find information in the official game's website, or even think about searching for information on the game's website, maybe the problem is in those people.

Just take a look at how some people actually proceeded to complain about not knowing about Mayhem YET they obviously didn't even bother to check the games website, the most obvious source of information of all places, a single time before, or they would have known already that the information about game news, release notes, community events, etc is always posted there, maybe even bookmark it so its only a few clicks away.

There is one problem: People don't get information about events in the game. There is a simple solution: Have a button in the launcher that links to the community site, where such information is available.
I do not see why people's (supposed) stupidity is relevant. Here is a problem and I suggest a solution.

I didn't call anyone stupid. Just lazy.

We're not in the 90's anymore, anything that exists has a website, games included, specially online games. And you must surely admit that the most obvious source of information on an online game is its own website. If someone is that interested in a game and its upcoming releases to care about knowing about things like Mayhem, its a little odd that they never checked the games website before. Its like people who complain they can't get a job, even though they never looked for one (my country is full of those).

In-game events already have an in-game source of information: Galnet. Every single CG is announced in Galnet. Mayhem is not on galnet because its not an ingame event. But even with galnet, you will probably have already noticed in this very forum that some players don't want to spend 1 minute a day to check new galnet items in the game and find out if there are new CGs. See where I'm getting at? Its not the lack of information, but mostly lack of will to lift a finger to find it.

Anyway, I'm not against having one more link in the launcher to the community part of the game website, but you can bet your house and car that there will still be people complaining that they "can't find" information.
