As for the quote, its not exactly packed with details or commitment so I would glean from it that it is not a high priority right now.

Michael is quite well known for being quite brief in commentary and also not revealing much. I wouldn't read it as being a high priority, but i think there will definitely be some change - probably in 1.1

Again I have to disagree. I haven't ever seen a Lakon in a conflict zone but I see Clippers there all the time.

You are both right... the Clipper is a multi-purpose ship, and so, like all the other multi-purpose vessels can fill both roles, warship or well-defended trading vessel, depending on how you outfit it.

Taken to extremes... you can fit it with class 3 shields and 240 tons of cargo space... or with up to class 7 shields, lots of shield cell banks and powerful weapons.

Lakon Type Xs on the other hand are pure freighters... turning them into viable warships is almost impossible.

This is exactly the two configuration types that I use when I flit between combat missions and trading to re-coup costs. I just wish I could cover those costs doing roles other than trading so I'm not forced down the a particular route as the only option.
