FED & IMPERIAL rep by selling exploration data.

Hi

I would like to know if i could increase my Imperial reputation by selling exploration data to any imperial run station.
Because it would be nice if i can go up a few ranks just by selling data.

If anyone can help me on that it would be great thanks!

Yes you can. I think there is a max tho. Once you are allied you can not get more rep for the given faction. I used a lot of exploration data to gain permits.

Ok because i would like to work my way up to unlock all of the ships. i already have the corvette and i want a cutter! LOL
and im less than 30 jumps away from SAG A

You can use it to get allied with multiple factions supporting your chosen superpower then you will find more Rep+++++ missions which will accelerate your progress with the superpower, the money from the sale of the exploration data could of course be used for the donation missions.

Unless something has changed, I'm fairly certain you won't get reputation with the Federation or Empire for selling the data, but you will with the local faction/s running the station.

You don't get rank points directly by selling the data, but you do build up reputation with the faction that controls the station where you sell the data. And it's quite powerful; a single page of data, with fifty typical star systems in it and worth about 10 million credits, is usually enough to get you "instant-Allied" all the way from Neutral.

I believe you also gain reputation points with the Superpower directly. This gains you no rank points directly either, but does mean that you gain reputation with affiliated minor factions twice as fast.

Once you're Allied with a superpower-aligned faction, you can then get more, better, higher-paying missions, which in turn give more rank points upon successful completion. But as of the current version of the game, mission completion for minor factions is the only thing that gives superpower rank points.

You're talking about local faction Federation or Imperial REP, the OP was asking about Federation and Imperial RANK. But no, there isn't any way to increase FEF or IMP rank by selling exploration data. You have to earn it the old fashioned way, by farming it. :ROFLMAO:

As already stated, no, you cannot get Fed or Imp rank by selling exploration data. But you can increase your rep with the local faction, which will grant you better missions. But you're stuck doing missions if you want to rank up.

All this used to work in the past AFAIK but a few years ago this was changed when it comes to ranking up.

No idea why they changed it though, since it did make quite a bit of sense. No reason I could think of why it's now tied firmly to Missions.

You can not increase your rank with the imperials or federation by selling data.

You could become allied to certain imperial/federation factions by selling some data, thus improving the missions rewards they offer you, and allowing you to take all the missions they offer. Look for the ones that give 5 pips in reputation to increase your standing for ranks the quickest.

Thank you everybody for your replies, It has been of tremendous help. :)
I'm going to keep this discussion open for future Commanders that might have the same question.
