Federal Drop Ship.. Is it Worth it??

Racked up some creds, i wanna splash them on a Federal specific ship and the dropship is my first target!

Opinions please!

Also, if anyone has one, mind giving recommended Combat builds please!!

I would save your money for a python, its a WAY better ship. The dropship has a 4km wide turning radius,or at least it feels that way. [praise] The only good fed ships are the Assault Ship, and the Corvette. The Gunship has the same horrible pitching speed, but decent firepower. Hope this helps!

It's a long save from the dropship to the python :)

The dropship is good - you get 220+ tonnes of cargo space, lots of firepower (it will murder any NPC in the game) and it lands on outposts.
Python is better, but at 60 million you would hope so :)

As Silence has said save your money for either the FAS or the Vette. The FAS is rank locked but worth the grind in my opinion, it has great agility and speed.

Depends what the OP wants - if it's a combat ship with lots of cargo space, you won't get that from the FAS

Ran one for a while, made a profitable mining ship that could deal with the odd cowboy.

Tried it in combat, kept getting the cockpit canopy shot out but it never died in a fight

Entertaining to fly as well, just short legs

For the price worth a try if you don't need long range, fit turret mounted weapons.

It's a good ground assault boat.

With Horizons coming, that's a whole new role to consider.

But a dropship is only 13 mill and a python takes about 100 mill to make it worthwhile. Do the dropship. Its a good ship that will get you up to that next level. Ship is solid weak on shields but a good ship.

i flew a dropship for some days. it is great for pve-piracy, and it is a really really strong armed trader. also, it is has a rather special look and sound to it, it drifts like crazy, and has a special atmosphere of flying it.

python beats it, but python is also much much more expensive.

I'd give it a go - the loss on selling it is rather low (because its hull-pice isn't very high).

Gunship has a A6 PP but a A7 distributer. This means it can boost turn for a looooong time. It also can slow down really fast.

Those two attributes mean the gunship is a bit more manueverable then people give it credit for.

meets my experience. you will have your guns most time on target. the upper hardpoints placement is excellent - differently to a python you'll not have any problems with eagle escorts.

also, depending on your weapons, you can fly with two or three pips to engines very often. and because the shield is weak anyway, most of the times with zero pips to shield.

The gunship is a lot of fun to fly. Especially in a wing.
