This works with ED!
I discovered this creator called Feel Three the other day on Kickstarter, and managed to convince myself to back it for an Early Bird version of their simulator. If you have several thousand pounds kicking around and a good 2.5m to place it in (it's certainly cheaper than alternatives, but of course not for everyone), then the Kickstarter offering a 45% discount on what it'll cost upon release closes on Friday.
The simulator can have controllers like an X52 and HOTAS fitted, and also for other cockpit games like cars, steering wheels and pedals.
There's a review video from Virtual Reality Oasis I've found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YKsLtvbVVE
I've wanted something like this all my life since I played a movable Outrun deluxe arcade machine back in the 1980's, but never expected anything to come in at a price that made that a reality. Considering this can work with 2D titles in VR cinema modes, personally I'm hoping that with Simtools (the software it utilizes), I can use MAME to emulate Outrun and other titles like Afterburner, and get it to move when playing.
The Simtools software has support for over 100 games, with ED being one of them. Feel Three are also working on getting native support into games.

Feel Three also have a YouTube channel with a few videos showing gameplay, as I think backers wanted to see this in action, including a couple of ED.

So for those that have already dropped a lot of cash on VR HMDs and graphics cards to run everything, here's something else...
