Fighter bay use for exploration

As of right now, multicrew for exploring is pretty much a waste. If I could drop off a ship while I take my conda to the other side of the system and we meet in the middle, I would never go exploring without a crew again!
I could even drop off my scout and then go land on a planet and gather mats while my crew scouts the system for me.
Man...the black would seem so much less lonely, and it would feel like a real team effort.

Hopefully exploration gets a huge overhaul after 2.4. There's been so many good suggestions and photoshop examples of how to implement an exploration and science missions and content. If I can find the thread I'll link it here

This thread and others make me sad. So many great ideas for the picking and what we get? The semi-tactical shooter nobody asked for.

👏... 👏... 👏.

Fighter or not, I use one on my exploration journeys to search out the more elusive bios. It can get down into the narrow crevices that could destroy your ship and is quicker and more manoeuvrable than the SRV. On long trips, losing a SLF is less damaging than losing a ship or SRV (I've lost both while far from the bubble). True, purpose-built scanners would be an improvement, but it's not a big deal.
And then there's the occasional canyon to be run to break the usual pattern.
