It's better than having to pay a salary, just imagine if you don't log in for a month and come back to find all your credits have been payed to your pilot.Yeah that's one thing that really annoys me, a pilot on 12% will take 12% of everything you make, even when you're busy trading in a Python while they're kicking back in the crew lounge sipping pina coladas.

You are paying them for the convinience of having them on call, don't want to pay them dismsiss them.
actually,
i would prefer them having a fixed salary and a timed contract.
then i would hire the one i would be able to afford for my gamesession, and wouldn't care about leveling them up.
they are only telepresented into my ship anyway, can only fly the SLF and strangely enough die when the mothership explodes.
. It's a bit odd that they are instantly available at any station though.
It is odd and it is very annoying that FDev doesn't consider this critical.

I don't get this. Money is so easy to make in ED - perhaps too easy - why is it a deal breaker for some people that an entirely optional component asks for a small percentage? If they are a good pilot, they could easily take a ship and make money by themselves, so the deal surely has to be worth that persons time?
To turn this around, who here would give up their ship to go as a jobbing pilot for the current percentages on offer? Actually I probably would if I were just beginning again... But only because I think it is a fair deal, a fantastic bit of work experience and a fun way to get into combat.
Oh - silly me - this is the people who think the only goal in ED is to make money? He/she with the biggest pile of cash when they die wins?
why? i can telepresence to the other side of the galaxy but my fighter pilot shouldnt?
i think the main gripe (at least for me) is that they cant do anything with the credits they leach of us.
Your fighter pilot isn't telepresensing to the next station where they can be picked up to telepresence on your ship where during a fight they will telepresence to the SLF..
Fair enough. It would certainly be more realistic if you hired a "Mostly Harmless" pilot, and after they had earned 6-7m credits, they just quit at the next stations muttering "now I've got enough for my Asp..."
Perhaps they just subscribe to some insanely expensive space channel of groups of people having pleasure without clothes, but with kitchen utensils and cream - I hope you have a mop for that floor...
