It was hard to decide on the cuts this week, some other good movies on...
http://www.tvguide.co.uk/upcomingfilms.asp

i find myself torn this week, even picking the movie list was a toughy...

In the end I would love to relive Time Bandits..

Any reason why you didn't include Primer on the list? It sounds like a good movie; part of Film4's Time Travel Weekend.

I'm recording all the featured movies at the weekend:-
Source Code
Primer
Time Bandits

And then I'll watch them yesterday.

source code is hard to watch.. just... so ..... arrrgh cannot compute... NO this cannot be.... Must not reason... aaach

Primer I missed, you got a synopsis? It would be good to take week turns about to allow a more balanced and varied choice list.. also more likely to find something new for us all..

If you fancy it Frank, you could do next week, and then Alien the week after and If anyone else wants a week thats fine too

OK.. I'll take the reins next week. If anyone has any ideas about next weeks options, put them here... A Freeview movie showing around Thursday that's worth watching. Or worth watching again.

Primer (2004)
Premiere. When two computer experts find a bug in their software which allows time travel, they quietly visit the future before returning to invest in the stock market. However, the pair face a dilemma when they realise their discovery could be used to save lives. Sci-fi drama, directed by and starring Shane Carruth. With David Sullivan, Casey Gooden and Anand Upadhyaya

Seen this, its a complex and very slow burner, and one that needs watching a few times to fully understand the going back and forth of events. I liked it, but wont be everyones cup of tea, but be intrested to know what others think :)

I'll be watching Chronicles Of Riddick, seen it before but not for quite a while.

Feedback:
1) Can we please have less film options, maybe only 4 or 5? (and all on the same day?) having too many just means people watch different films. While lots of choice is good, the idea of the "movie club" was that we watch the same film together, hence the poll to choose which film ...
2) Please keep the poll running until the films are on. It is Wednesday morning for me, and I can't vote for Chronicles Of Riddick, which is on Thursday night, because the poll is closed.

Yeah Alien I'd love to keep it down to 4 or 5.. and ideally run the poll till wednesday night and only pick films from Thursday, Friday and Saturday..

BUT DID YOU SEE ALL THE MOVIES ON THE LAST FEW WEEKS???

The Pressure.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Your vote is noted :D

OK we can formalise some kind of rules for Frank next week, then you the week after.. But the problem is there are some good movies Weds etc..

So lets say we have a poll of upto 5... Movies on Thursday, Friday and Saturday's only.

Then in the first post add Reccomended watches... for the ones not in the poll.

Does that sound preferable? The Poll can then run till Wednesday without causing issues and the other star movies of the week can be identified and added as a kind of pickers choice for other movies..

Time bandits for me as well, I'll record it and watch it with the kids :D

Great idea this Psykokow!

STIII can't be 1984 . I remember watching it and thinking how old they all looked....

Have to say some cracking films on that lineup, would have gone for Time Bandits myself as it's not one I've seen in a long long time.

Have to say, as a fan of time travel films I thought Primer was ****. It takes the time travel aspect seriously but gets it so horribly wrong it isn't even consistent with itself, let alone what it claims to be.

Source Code, on the other hand, I thought was fantastic, especially as conflicting time travel theories actually somewhat plays a part in the story.

I've never seen Time Bandits, I should watch that one.

I'm a fan of time travel movies as well, but not the ones that take themselves too seriously. The plot holes that time travel generates can make you go cross-eyed. This means that the genre is best suited to comedy films that suggest you don't worry about those things and just enjoy yourself.

My favourite time travel movies are "Back to the Future 2" where McFly goes back into the first movie again and "12 Monkeys". It's a shame that my favourite time machine hasn't made it to the silver screen. It's from Bob Shaw's "Who Goes Here?"; a time machine built into a toilet. It was set so that it would take you back to that point in the past when you first stepped into the toilet. It's for bosses who think their employees are spending too long in there.

So what's your favourite time travel movie?

I don't mind the ones that take themselves too seriously, as long as they take themselves seriously all the way.

So what's your favourite time travel movie?

Thought I'd already posted that in this thread, but apparently not...

Probably FAQ About Time Travel - it's hilarious. Also quite like Back to the Future, Bill & Ted, and other stuff which is generally quite tongue-in-cheek about the time travel aspect and otherwise builds an entertaining film around it instead. (FAQATT and B&T actually do better time travel-wise than Primer, although the one problem in each is actually the thing that sets the films in motion - but then they're not supposed to be taken seriously anyway.)

For more serious stuff, Los Chronocrimines/Timecrimes and 11 Minutes Ago are great, and even The Time Traveller's Wife, aimed at women but entertaining enough (at least for me) to make it one of those films you watch.

The Time travelers wife is a wonderful film from a different perspective.
And is a chick flick too..

I too loved Bill and Ted.. (anyone seen Misfits? the movie?)

Twelve Monkeys A+++++

and for realism vs fantasy idea.. crap crap crap I cant remember it.. Jennifer Connly and they stick these weird things in their belly buttons to join a game world.. Exinstenz... CRACKER!!

Two positive votes for the Time Traveller's Wife. I'll watch it next time it comes up.

11 Minutes Ago sounds good as well. Did you ever see the original time bounce film 12:01? Not the Hollywood remake but the original movie short? (IMDB link) It's well worth watching, and as serious as a time travel movie can get.
