Fun to see how much Sci-Fi ships of yore owed to the humble Fairy Liquid bottle.

Nice to see some well loved boats in this thread. Shan't post a pic of the Runabouts, everybody probably knows them, and they look like a shoebox compared to the venerables in the thread.

Seen most of the ships from Aliens but not the Dropship:

I always liked the design of it and I think there already are some features of our ships which have been inspired by it. The cockpit of the DBX for example reminds me a bit of it, however I think the view out of the Dropship's cockpit might be better.
I can't help it, but I find Ron Cobb's pencil sketches look so much better than 3D computer graphics majority of designers use today. Click on the image for his website. Definitly worth a look.
Also I wonder why there's no ship in ED showing a landing gear / SRV bay configuration similiar to the Dropship's, our SRVs are always oriented to the ship's rear when deployed (even at ships with 4-point landing gear). A little more diversity seems desireable to me. Maybe we'll see something like it at future ships, here the shape of the Moray Starboat comes to my mind.
