Final decision: Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS vs Logitech G Saitek Pro Flight X56 Rhino

Hello Cmdrs o7
I used to play elite dangerous on my xbox 360 controller, but now i want to change it to H.O.T.A.S.
I did a bit of a research. 1st i wanted to buy Saitek Pro Flight X56 Rhino or Saitek X52 Pro but i saw people are complaining about poor quality.
Some says that quality of x56 is better now, because of Logitech. Is it true?
Right know im looking on Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS. Should i take x56 or t16000m? Thank You for help.

Just to head off some replies:

Are you certain it has to be one of those two (ie you don't want other suggestions)
If you are open to other suggestions, what is your budget?

Thanks :)

People are going to say the x52 has quality issues. That hasn't been my experience but there's no smoke without fire, so buyer beware, of course, BUT the fact of the matter is the joystick is so good it almost seems like it was purposefully designed for elite. If mine broke, I would most certainly get another. Just wanted to get in before the 'don't buy Saitek rubbish' because when it's working it's not just good, it's 'perfect' for elite.

If I remember correctly it's also the one FDev tend to use in-house.

My wife has a (second hand) one and is very happy with it, but I find it far too light. Mind you, I'm using a Warthog, so pretty much everything is lighter than that :)

If you have a shop nearby that sells those things, go there and try how they feel to handle.

Some time ago I got a chance to grab a feel of several different flight sticks in such a store, and it was quite an eye opener.

X56 are very nice but do suffer the same problems as the X55 did.

I had the 55 which was replace under warranty by logiteck last year but it was still branded Saitek.

Consider a tflight hotas x. very affordable and more than capable.

Another X520 Pro owner here, chiming in to say that I have not had any quality of build issues.

It has worked well and continues to work well. The thing is that people generally will come online to complain about some faults in a product or service. You'll hardly ever find anyone coming online just to say "Hey I bought this thing and it is AWESOME! It works excellently, and I am very happy to have bought it!".

The T16 isn't even in the same league as the X56, IMHO.
Rhino all the way. I didn't get one only because they are stupidly expensive here thanks to import costs and the like.

My vote is for the T.16000M with the TWCS throttle. I use one now and it's brilliant (just be sure to loosen up the little screw underneath that adjusts the throttle track friction).

I used to love Saitek, but then my X52 Pro decided it didn't like my gaming PC and tried to kill it with blue-screens and failed startups because the drivers didn't get along with my rig for whatever reason. What's worse is that trying to uninstall the drivers also triggered blue-screens. Rolling them back to the disk versions didn't work either. The only cure was to disconnect the damn thing and never ever use it again.

That pretty much put me off Saitek for good. Their hardware is often lovely, but the software and drivers from the Madcatz era are sub-par and will not work with all setups. Thrustmaster, on the other hand, makes stuff that is not only invincible but will work with pretty much any PC.

i have an X56.. wasnt too happy how it came out of the box. i needed to lube the stick cause it didnt went back into neutral position.

other than that its a good hotas.

I say that about CH stuff all the time. It's awesome! If your budget allows it, swing for CH!

More on topic though, I've heard a lot of good things about the T.16000M. I've also read a lot about the wires on the x 52 breaking. I would go with the 16000M

I have the T16000M and like it a lot.

However, it does come down to personal preference because neither is objectively "better" than the other due to having such similar features and buttons, etc.

For me, the T16000M has a better feel due to weight of control. The centre spring on the joystick is just right, where on the X52 it is far too light for me personally.
On the other hand, the T16000M throttle does not have the benefit of a centre detent, ehich would be my only real wish for as an improvement.

If you are not 100% sure if you are definitly going to stick with a HOTAS I'd try the Thrustmaster X. It's doing the job, maybe it's not as durable or exact as highprice HOTAS but it really handles well for most flight situations and PvE combat. For hardcore PVP you might miss some precessission and "hardness". It won't cost you much (abut 50-60 euro) - it is ideal for "trying out" HOTAS.

I went back to the X-Box controller - beocuse I really like the gamepad + keyboard + mouse setup. It's what I am used to and what works best for me and I am happy I did not spend more money on a HOTAS which I would have stowed away after half a year anyway.

I have the T16000.M and love it. I've used it for well over 2000 hours and it is still going strong. Although, having said that, it has developed a wee bit of slack in the rest position. The lack of a centring position on the throttle is annoying but I have learned to overcome that - I set the numpad 0 to be zero throttle and have a habit of using that rather than the throttle now. Cost/benefit-wise I think it is hard to beat.

CH Pro Throttle and t16000m. Throttle is very good. T16000m is very accurate due to its hall sensors. I like the twist. Together they have enough buttons that you don't need the 16000m base buttons for much (I have them mapped to landing gear/fsd, stuff you hardly need to press).

T16000m suffers from the finger switch micro switch wearing out after a couple of years. Had two now, just replaced the microswitch in the current one (like a bit of soldering). But they are so cheap they are replaceable.

The combo allows full 6 axis control, the micro joystick on the throttle providing up/down/left/right thrust, the joystick x/y/twist providing yaw/pitch/roll.

A joystick not having twist is a deal breaker for me. Do you need twist? That limits the decision tree down.

I bought Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS 9.1.2017. Since then it has been in use almost daily with ED and some fight simulators. I do not need to use keyboard or mouse at all during flight in ED.

+1 for Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS

Edit: I tried the HOTAS X before this one, but it was too toy-like for me. Plastic feeling and button micro swithces made loud noice. I did not like it so returned it to shop.

X-56 is bad buy anything other then X-56. Get ready to repair it or send it back for a new a new.

I used to have an X52 pro but it gave up on me after about a year of semi intensive play.
I bought Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS right after it became available and I can only say I've been very happy with the product. Granted it's not as hefty as the x52 pro, but after the initial "getting used to it" stage I have nothing to complain about.

tl;dr
I can recommend the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS

EDIT: grammar
