Final predictions before the reveal

Okay, so here goes my final prediction:

Latin America Animal Pack

  • Capybara (too popular to not include here)
  • Maned Wolf (again, very likely representative for SA)
  • Any New World Primate (howler monkeys are most likely, but I could also see them pull off tamarins or squirrel monkeys very well - the only thing that makes me hesitate is that we already have really small new world primates with the capuchins, and I think they would do a bigger species for the second primate to fill that niche)
  • Any sloth (I still think sloths might be coming, especially given how popular they would most likely be in the community. People were also saying there was no way we'd get koalas in the Australia Pack, but we did get them, so I think popularity would give them the necessary boost to land in such a pack)
  • Coati (probably the White-Nosed Coati to give Central America some rep)
  • Armadillo (a rather out-of-the-box choice à la prairie dog that not too many people would expect, but would still be fairly popular)
  • either Ocelot or Spectacled Bear (I'm learning towards the first, as ocelot seems like a likely beloved choice, even if it would be another cat)
  • probably an aquatic exhibit species, even though I can't think of any right now. Any aquatic tortoises from SA?

I'd love to see any bird included, such as the Greater Rhea or Scarlet Ibis, but if any, I think we'd see an American Flamingo and that's a choice I wouldn't be too keen on at the expense of any of the above-mentioned animals.

Hey everyone. Can we please limit this to just your final predictions I’d appreciate it.
When the reveal happens I’d prefer not to scroll through 10 pages to see who turned out to be the most accurate. Thank you.

My call is an Amazonian Animal Pack:
  • Capybara
  • Green Anaconda
  • Greater Rhea
  • Maned Wolf
  • Ocelot
  • Golden Lion Tamarin
  • Armadillo/Porcupine
  • Basilisk Lizard - Exhibit

My bet (and my wish) is an Amazon Animal Pack including the following animals:

-Two Toed Sloth - Would be the headliner animal due to its uniqueness and popularity. Also could definitely be hinted at during the ‘self care’ stream on Monday (kicking back, relaxing, taking it slow etc)
-Bush Dog - Utilises the small burrows introduced in 1.9.
-Capybara - Top of the META Wishlist. Utilises the hot springs. Need I say more?
-Nine Banded Armadillo - Another burrowing animal which is extremely versatile in terms of biome.
-Prehensile Tail Porcupine - Due to the data-mined ‘Porcupine’ folder in the in-game files.
-South American Coati - Another zoo favourite that we still do not have in game. Would fill a big gap in the roster.
-Black Howler - Finally, another monkey! A fan-favourite, vocal species that could be heard all over your zoo.
-Red Bellied Piranha (E) - The first fully aquatic exhibit animal would make use of 1.9’s recolour-able exhibit water.

This is absolutely a dream scenario for me and would cater to a lot of player’s wants for the game. Whatever pack we get, I’m sure it’ll be absolutely fantastic!

My predictions are General Asia animal pack or Latin America animal pack.

Macaques hot springs pools and rice terraces indicates Asia packs but the only other animal that can use hot springs are capybara so there is a chance there could be South America pack also.

General Asia animal pack
Amur leopard
Przewalski horse
Lar gibbon
Golden Takin
Lion tailed macaque
Blackbuck
Striped hyena

Latin America animal pack
Capybara
Maned wolf
Spectacled bear
Black Howler monkey
SA Coati
Sloth
Armadillo or peccary

To be honest, I still can see a bird pack coming (and this would still be my biggest wish). There wouldn't be a real point to give peafowl and flamingos flying ability, as they mostly aren't in aviaries that allow this. So there wouldn't be a real point in giving a focus on aviaries, specially as there seems to be a larger span of time to showcase the animals (if it turns out that the DLC reveal will be on Tuesday).

Anyway, if we won't get a bird pack, I could definitley see a South American Animal Pack with following species:
  • Capybara
  • Howler monkey (I would like a black, but a red would be an other possibility)
  • Six-banded armadillo
  • Maned wolf
  • Andean bear
  • Golden lion tamarin
  • Curassow (even tough any other bird is very welcome too)

For Asia, I would expect something like:
  • Amur leopard
  • Przewalski's horse
  • Père David's deer
  • Takin
  • Gibbon
  • Red crowned crane
  • Pheasant or a duck

Of course that highly wishful thinking too. But I can't wait to see what we're getting on Tuesday!

Add peccary, spider monkey, ocelot and mata mata to that.

I’m with Doran on this one. Was hopeful we’d maybe be seeing a flight-focused pack this Spring, but the Update Announcement has pretty well shut down any possibility of that. The Announcement has made me almost certain we’ll be seeing the Capybara in what is obviously an Animal Pack. I also feel pretty confident there will be a species in the pack that is a small digger to justify the official Small Burrows we’ll now be getting. With all this in mind, I think we’ll be getting either a biome-focused tropical pack or something revisiting South America.

If the pack focuses solely on South America, I’m hopeful we’ll be getting a Sloth species alongside the almost-confirmed Capybara. I also think the new animal that uses the soon-to-come Small Burrow would be an Armadillo species. Beyond these three animals, I can’t say with any certainty what else would make an appearance in a SA Animal Pack. Another monkey seems likely; I’m hopeful for either a Tamarin/Marmoset or a Spider Monkey. I also think Maned Wolf has a good chance of showing up as long as the pack isn’t Rainforest/Amazon specific (I personally would prefer something else besides another canid, but it has consistently been one of the community’s most-requested species. Also Frontier just can’t seem to get away from felines and canids. There’s been one in every pack except one, the Aquatic Pack).

If the Animal Pack is focused on a biome and not South America, then I think we’ll be seeing a collection of species from the world’s different Tropical Rainforests or Wetlands (the Update obviously has a variety of new water-related inclusions, so I think we’ll be seeing some new species in the accompanying DLC that take advantage of that).

My prediction It's Tropical animal dlc:
  1. Capybara (That is the only animal I think can use hot spring other than Japanese macaque)
  2. Two toed sloth (It can be any type of sloth but I would be most happy to have the two toed sloth)
  3. Maned wolf
  4. Fossa
  5. Red river hog
  6. Indian crested Porcupine ( It's also could be Prehensile-tailed porcupine but It's could be good representation for asia and also they can use in the burrows)
  7. gibbon/howler monkey
  8. Exhibit: Emerald tree boa/Green anaconda

My prediction and my dream DLC would be this one :

- Tropical Animal Pack -

1 - Capybara
2 - South American Coati
3 - Brazilian Porcupine (I mean, look at that face and nose )
4 - Fossa
5 - Maned Wolf
6 - Red River Hog
7 - Kakapo
8 Exhibit - Madagascar Day Gecko (I mean, look at this adorable belly climbing on you exhibit window )

We don't have any gecko or any chameleon, it would be awesome. If it's another boring insect...

[Bold letters for certain ones]

If Greater Asia Animal Pack:

Przewalski's Horse
Amur Leopard

Tanuki (or) Mountain Pika
Golden Takin
Pere David's Deer (or) Japanese Serow
Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
Golden Pheasant (or) Red Crowned Crane
Japanese Giant Salamander

If Tropical Animal Pack:

Capybara
Fossa
Red River Hog
Asian Small-clawed Otter
Matschie's Tree Kangaroo (or) Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Brazilian Porcupine (or) Malayan Porcupine
South American Coati (or) Lar Gibbon*
Mata-Mata

* I'm totally pessimistic with lar gibbon with patch 1.9 cuz there's no plausibility of having gibbons with no brachiating animations.

there's no plausibility of having gibbons with no brachiating animations.
It's actually very plausible, I'd even argue likely, that eventually we'll get gibbons without brachiation. Brachiation isn't their only mode of locomotion after all, and at some point it becomes a case of "this animal is a common zoo animal" vs "this animal exhibits this unique behaviour" in terms of what is more important. If gibbons remain high on wishlists, but brachiation proves difficult, they probably would just release a gibbon that moves around like gibbons do without swinging.

To me, the hot-springs and rice paddies suggests specifically a China/Japan/East Asia Pack. The wellbeing thing also gives me vibes we'll get like Zen Garden scenery stuff maybe?

So on that basis, I'd personally go with:

  • Amur Leopard
  • Przewalski's Wild Horse
  • Red-crowned Crane
  • Tanuki
  • Golden or Lady Amherst's Pheasant
  • Chinese or Japanese Giant Salamander
  • Golden Snub Nosed Monkey

I could also see yak, a gibbon, mandarin duck or wild boar being alternatives?

I'm feeling some kind of softshell turtle perhaps for exhibit?

Random Bonus guess: koi carp as a thing you can put in water, but not as an animal you buy, just dynamic decoration?

I think it could be nicely archived by a proper big enrichment item.
I once proposed an idea along those lines. Basically a post-and-rope situation. Three lengths (6m, 12m, 16m), and the way it works is that the animal climbs up the post at one end, engages the swinging animation along the rope, and climbs down at the other end (or, if we want to get really fancy, there could also be a 'transition' animation if you have two of these things connected). In my mind it would be useable by the orangutan, chimpanzee, and a gibbon, assuming we get one.
