Finally bought the Vulture and I love it

So I finally splashed out on a Vulture after spending much time at RESs in my Cobra.

The first ship I encountered was a NPC Anaconda and didn't feel threatened for even a split second while I ran down its shields. An Annie with all guns blazing is quite a sight and my shields were getting battered. 3 pips to sys, 3 to wep. Next I selected the power plant and kept going until I manouvered and hit from behind. The turn rate is great in the Vulture. Some SAVs came along and I was able to finish off the Anaconda. That was easy!

Next some sidewinders and eagles were despatched pretty quickly, followed by an Adder and couple of Vipers.

It just makes bounty farming that much quicker, plus I can spend more time at RESs because I don't need to replenish multicannon ammo like I did on the Cobra.

The power management and lack of jump distance on the Vulture is its two drawbacks. Jump distance I am less bothered about, but for a heavy fighter a good power plant is essential. The Vulture is what I would expect most NPCs/players to be using in a High Intensity War Zone situation where having sufficient power is essential. Imagine being assaulted by a 4-ship wing?

Glad you made the change. I did so recently as well from a Viper and the extra firepower and even maneuverability are great.
Per some advice I found on the forums, chose to put two C3 gimbal beams to stay in the RES for longer. Shield cells run out, though so it's not unlimited unless you fly better.

FYI, spend enough time in a RES fighting the same faction (until you turn hostile with the faction) and you'll start seeing 3-ship wings (2 cobras, eagles, vipers, 1 python, cruiser, annie) attacking you out of nowhere. Much fun :)

Power management is delicate, that's true but it's just an amazing ship to fly for extended times.

I've been using 2 pulses gimballed, but was considering beams just to see how effective they are.

Yes I've done that in a system where I would get 6 ships firing on me at once. That was in a Cobra at the time so running, returning by picking off one or two was my best approach. Agreed it is lots of fun.

Don't. You're going to be power starved.

At most 1 beam only.

I used 2 gimballed beams on mine, power was fine if managed right, and the firepower over the pulses was significant.

For some reason people just feel the need to always try and have shield cells on every ship they fly. Cut the umbilical cord!

I've never used shield cells.
