Finally Had to Stop...

Well it is more about learning from the past. They both have their pros and cons or we would just play the one we liked, so neither is better in everything. What people are after is the best of both. I mean I dare anyone to say this game is not the most visually appealing, even taking into account age and technology limitation. Simple things like rain bouncing off things and trees swaying realistically is proof a lot of care was put into this as they did not need to be done. But the management and dino behaviour when compared to the older JPOG is lacking a bit.

One thing I noticed and absolutely loved was how Frontier used quotes from every movie to be the titles of the achievements you unlock. The ingen database is amazing as well. I love how it gives you a lot of info from the movies, which showed me they actually seem to care about the franchise. I just wished they put that same effort into the actual gameplay. I haven't heard any word from them on any future updates, but I really hope they give this game the updates that it needs.

This may be a really small thing but I love it anyways. It's when you click on a certain gene to modify your dinosaur with, it makes the sound of that particular animal. If it was the bat you hear the bat squeaks, or if it was the null gene (aka the frog) you hear the frog croak... little things but I love it haha

I wholeheartedly agree with the OP. Sure, modifying genomes to increase lifespans alleviated the problem with the 24h dead dinosaur taxi service ever so slightly. But the rest, it just feels like I'm at work. In JPOG I could atleast take a break and just enjoy the park. In JWE it's just constant maintenance and headaches.

The game is pretty. But it leaves me with a sour taste.

I noticed that to haha it's cool that they did that

I noticed that with the null genes making the frog sounds. lol

We just need patients and we just need to keep letting them know of issues we have so they will address it. I believe that they will do just that. You have to know that they have like three games that they are trying to improve, so I can understand the long wait. If they put so much love to this game on small details, I know they will improve it to make this game the best. Again we just need patients. I'm happy that frontier stepped in to create this game.

I think this whole debate of JPOG being better than JWE is getting out of hand, don't you think? Both games are fantastic and both have flaws in my opinion. I believe both games are equally great!

I personally like the idea of keeping myself busy. It keeps me busy. I agree that refilling the feeders is a bit tedious, but it is what it is.

I agree. I am pretty sure that frontier will fix these problems.

Yeah, I ended up refunding. Took me a while to decide and I was fighting with myself to know if it was worth it, because I really wanted to have a Jurassic park/world game that is worth the £50, from one of my most trusted developers. But I could tell instantly how little I would end up getting from it.

That's not to say I hate what is in the game. I will happily buy it when it drops in price, but when I realised how much potential was missing I noticed it was simply not worth the £50 I paid. In fact, it's how good the small things they do have is that makes it so more painful to see that missed potential.

If it improves then I would happily pay the £50 again. Same as if it drops to a reasonable price, I would probably re-buy then as well. But until then, I am sorry Frontier, but I would want something better for that price. Planet Coaster earned the money I pumped into it, and this game should have to do the same. Here's hoping it improves in the future.

How did you convince them to refund? Did you have less than 2 hours of playtime? I have about 9 hours of gameplay (a LOT of it sitting idle, waiting for stuff to happen) and Steam refused to do it.

That's the whole point of a management sim. You are at work at a Dinosaur Zoo and the life spans are simulated.

I also find it annoying with so many dinos that I spend my time just replacing dead dinos and topping up feeders, feeling like I made no progress with the hour or so I get to play after the kids are in bed. At first I didn't mind but these need to be able to be automated with an unlock as you progress.

people should really stop comparing this game to JPOG, especially with how tedious and busy-workish JPOG could be at times. You have any idea how annoying it was to have 80 urgent "emails" from Dr. Sattler telling you that "egg-scuse me" "you really must do something" because your entire herd has caught dinosaur flu? Or died from being too stupid to find water that they are standing in? Or having 150 "emails" from John Arnold because a twister swarm has torn through your park and wrecked every building? And then get interrupted by Muldoon because a tour car broke down in the hadrosaur paddock?

JPOG may have had infinitely full feeders, but it was an aggravatingly tedious game.

Many other things have been mentioned besides refilling the feeders over and over again, but when trying to defend the game (which of course is alright), only this aspect is always considered or said that JPOG also has flaws. I can not quite understand that. 15 years ago, JPOG was worth the full price with what it offered, but in my eyes JWE in 2018 was not. I also like to be busy, but as a park manager, I would rather hire, fire, and direct my employees instead of doing their own work. I know the tone is often too harsh, but if these people would not speak, things like those that happen at Star Wars or in Battlefront (Loot Boxes) would probably be left unanswered.

As mentioned in each of my posts, I like the game (in essence) and the developer Studio Frontier, but I can not understand how decisions can be made, which has led us to get only a campaign and that customization, any variations ( except Dino skins) as well as staff management etc. were deleted. That's why I hope the fans continue to let they know in a constructive tone what we would have wanted from a full-price title.

My opinion

Some AI hiccups aside, It is truly amazing how that game actually felt like a park MANAGEMENT game. Also having Arnold spam you with mails was easy to handle you simply opened them chronologically and fixed everything with a simple click, still more engaging than only being tasked to oversee feeder refills and corpse disposal.
