Finally Made Elite Trade Rank

As per the title, feels good as I am primarily a combat pilot. Got to elite combat after a month or so when I bought the game.
As for trading, from penniless to tycoon was mostly done trading rares between Leesti and MAIA with long distance delivery missions on the way back. All done in my lovely ASP explorer. After working out that to get from tycoon to elite is about 600 million credits I decided to switch to delivery missions and use the Python.

It was mostly pretty fun (took 6 days) even the mission redirects weren't that bad, except when I got diverted to a planetary landing that required a permit I didn't have, big fine, but who cares.

Some nice interdictions kept the combat skills up to snuff, so yeh, it was all good.

So now I am on the way to getting the final 95% I need to get to elite explorer. Sitting at 5% pioneer so it could take a while. Any tips from the explorers out there?

The 2nd option is much faster & less grueling than flying into the unknown.

Half your reward from the VIP sight seeing missions are applied towards your Explore ranking. So those juicy 18M celebrity luxury/first class tours really boost the progress bar.

Thanks for that, think I will fit a passenger cabin, last time I went to the core, my sanity remained there long after I had returned.

Better be quick it you're going this route - the explorer xp will be nerfed in 2.3 when it drops

Thanks for the heads up. Just did a quick passenger trip paying 8mil and rank went from 5% to 10% Pioneer. Should be triple Elite in a few days.

If you want to get your rank up, just get out there. Pic a destination (nebulae are good) and DSS everything 'till you get bored of a system, then move on to the next. I tend not to scan anything below a G-class but if I start on a system I'll usually finish it.

Driving around in the SRV helps a lot too, apparently.

I kind of wish I had taken my time with the combat rank. I just found res sites too much fun and was soon flying a Vulture and then a FAS and finally an FDL. NPC's were dumber than the rocks floating around so the money kept rolling in. The downside? when I started trading, every interdiction was an elite NPC usually in an Anaconda.

Having tried most of the ships in this game, I've settled on three. ASPx for exploring, FDL for combat, Python for trading (although it's an excellent all rounder.) I may have stuck with the Anaconda I bought and engineered for trading, if I was simply hauling my own purchased goods. But the trading missions seem to cap out at 180 tonnes and the Python could haul 184 tonnes, so the Conda was always half full, and I hated the darned thing.
