Finally, one of Elite's biggest mysteries has been solved!!

So at last we have an answer to the source of those endless occupied escape pods found on every planet.

It's those darn impatient passengers that eject when they can't stand being on your ship any more...

(It's also fitting that they get to lay there, on a barren planet surface into perpetuity for causing you to fail your mission).

:)

Found some 65000 ly from Sol, I guess they missed a turn or two? :D

@Obsidian: You know when you open a post on the forums here with "Finally, one of Elite´s biggest mysteries has been solved" everyone thinks you have found the "missing" or "thagoids" :D

You didn't say "Hi Guys and Girls", so you're not the real Obsidian. I claim my placcie fiver.

My mamma warned me 'bout people like you. [wacky][wacky][wacky]

but, are there luxury scape pods? some of those passengers look like they´d rather die in style, although slowly

I'm glad that's settled, now I can get my sleepless nights back, I've been tossing and turning wondering that very same question...

Its also kind of cool that after a reference to a "Fighter Launcher" being found in the code of the Amiga version of Frontier, we finally have it - in game, 23 years on. :)

Found one of the escape pods!!

What I don't get is why the "occupied escape pods" floating in space next to an "Encoded USS" are labeled "Illegal Salvage." I've thought being altruistic for "saving" one by scooping it up and delivered it to the next station and got promptly fined for me efforts.

Interesting game mechanic.
