Finally put my stamp on a system. Check your shoes

Congrats!

Actually, I have forgotten mine. [redface]

My first "First Found By" system was immediately followed by a few thousand more, since I had just returned from Beagle Point.

I've no idea where my first discovered systems are... If you stumble upon one... Let me know!

No one is forcing you to scan everything :)

You can just go places and selectively scan the shinies like ELW, WW and AWs. View every system as a Christmas present you open with honking and you'll go: socks, socks, knitted sweater, socks, ELW!, socks, sweater, underpants?, socks, 2 terraformable WWs!, socks, etc.

Ha that really is a good analogy.
As for all the scanning that was a personal choice. I was trying to gage how much difference in the payout/time/blah blah blah.
I once flew 14k lys without a single surface scan, just wanted the trip done.

This was a simple quick run just to test to see if I have the patience. Once I seen I was in virgin territory I committed to spreading my seed all over it (wow I just read that back)

What was funny is once I got it all scanned I canceled current course and headed right back to populated space to make sure I got it in there before Murphys Law had its way with me lol

You never forget your first.

I've forgotten mine... It was somewhere over there ----->

But anyway, it is a nice feeling to have your name on a complete system, I know that. :) The only system I can actually remember, though, is the one I have claimed as my own because it is pretty and within 3000Lys from the bubble. I plan to return there when we can land on ELWs.

I've yet to find a knitted sweater. Plenty of socks, though.

I hear ya. My dream is one day a simple little taco stand near the Nav Beacon, and then like a disco themed party bus.

The second star and planets groups are 250k ls out, so I'm thinking a more adult type playground.

One day

Yes when you're so far out from any station, and going through 1000's of systems, you sure don't want to scan everything. I don't even bother with the terriformable planets anymore using distance ranges from the star types as it just takes too long. So many of us just get the ELW, WW and Ammonia worlds as has been mentioned. So there's always tons and tons of new things to find.

I actually found my first discovered O class star in the middle of nowhere yesterday, first time I'd seen something already explored for over a month...

I went out on a 3 or 4 week exploration exercise not too long after I started - which was the moment Elite Dangerous went live. I got my name on quite a few system as I went out about 3000ly's. I kept a written note of everywhere I went ..... and put it in a safe place. So safe, in fact, that I can't find it now!!! ..... errrrrr..... typical! D'oh!

Ah well, I have an AspX with an engineered FSD ready to go out again sometime soon ....

Congrats! Always a nice feeling being the first!

I wish we could search for em as I can't remember where I've been lol

Why thank you. Frontier, I give you permission to use it on your website. You're welcome.

So instead of:
EXPLORE
With 400 billion star systems to explore, there’s always something new to see. Charting the unknown will earn recognition, credits and see your name on the galaxy map forever.

it would be:
EXPLORE
Socks, socks, knitted sweater, socks, ELW!, socks, sweater, underpants?, socks, 2 terraformable WWs!, sock

I might actually buy a game who advertises itself like that out of sheer curiosity. :p

What always got me were the magical NPCs that came from witch space when you got a good amount of data. After about the 10th interdiction by the same NPC over and over again just ls away from the destination....... I gave up. Will have to give ED another shot here eventually..... everytime I did give it another shot, It always made me quit shortly after loading up with another magical NPC interdiction.
