Finally succumbed to being rammed to death

It's been tried before, but not succeed. Just now, a Python starts flying around me while I am hunting at a resource extraction site. I slow down and attempt to open comms and keep getting nudged. Ok. One of these. So I fly away a bit and try to lose him. Think I did. But no. While opening comms again the jerk rams my Cobra and I'm out.

*sigh* 76k insurance and 200k + of bounties gone.

What a loser, I'd imagine someone flying a Python would have the balls to at least destroy a ship properly and take the 200CR.

So someone had a bit of fun. Big deal. OP could've just gotten out of there and into another RES. Its called Elite: Dangerous, not Elite: Daycare

It is pretty cheap. Personally I would have unloaded my entire stock of dumbfires into him and just eaten the bounty.

Viper rammed me yesterday (both our faults) and my insurance is 231k! You have some ways to go on your upgrades ;)

Permanent ban for killing anyone, anywhere, by any means, then take off and nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Dragging myself back from my meta "post a lot of scifi references" game - so if the guy in the Python shot the OP to bits, you'd all say "fair cop, gov!" I don't see the difference, as the OP still gets his ship deaded.

Here's another hint: Neither is yours. Do you know what spawn-camping is in FPS games? That's griefing. This is not.

[ ] I have actually read the EULA

and really, ramming someone to death in multiple attempts with deliberation can easily be classified as griefing, even if you don't like it.

If Python had opened fire, though, at least the OP could have shot back. Probably not to much effect, but there's always the catharsis value.

I lost my first Cobra to a ram attack, too. Wasn't a player, though, just a ridiculously aggressive NPC pirate.

No it cannot. Most of the people crying about griefers dont even have experienced real griefing, in this game or any other. They just dont like to see their ship go buh bye.

OP, he deliberately rammed you, you moved, he followed and did the same. A clear cut case of griefing IMO. Bad luck OP in meeting one of the world's gaming idiots! Have some rep to soften the blow. (No pun intended.)

It's not griefing, it's exploiting a known bug in the way the system handles repercussions for attacking other ships. The problem FD has now is addressing people doing this while still preventing the random cargo trader from gaining a bounty because NPC pilot jerk bumps him during docking.

And welcome to why I no longer play open. I don't mind being pirated, but if you're going to find ways around the (already extremely light) punishment for attacking another player, or find camping outside a station with rail guns amusing I don't need to play with you. Since there's no POINT to wings right now I have just as much fun treating this game as a single player event.
