Finally...

After months of getting my butt kicked up and down the Pleiades, I finally destroyed a Cyclops for the first time today.

Twice, in fact.

The first fight, I destroyed the Cyclops with 9% hull remaining. I sat there, battered and bruised, but victorious, waiting for the corrosive cloud to dissipate so I could claim my prize: the Thargoid Heart. Finally I would be able to unlock the interceptor bobblehead.
Alas, as I waited, exhausted and proud, the cloud drifted silently over my ship, and placed its caustic substance on my hull - the last laugh of the Thargoid. Without decontamination limpets, and eating away at that 9% faster than I could overheat... I exploded.

Furious, I swore that would be the last of it today. But I was a glutton for punishment and quickly got back in the pilot's seat, only to get my backside handed to me by another Cyclops. That was it. I turned off the game.

Later in the afternoon, I felt the urge to have one more try. I got back onboard my FAS, the IXS-17 AX Aurora, and went looking for my prey.

I found her scanning a Beluga she had destroyed and I took vengeance on their behalf. After a long battle, and with only 1% hull remaining, I vanquished my adversary. I stayed far away from the cloud this time - over 5km - and waited for it to completely disappear before moving in and scooping up the Heart.

After, I had to swap ships to something with more cargo space, and juggled around the corrosion resistant cargo rack, and I made off for HIP 14405 to harvest the meta alloys.

And then, at Polya Station in the Harrigi system, I unlocked the bobblehead.

It may be nothing special to most of you who are downing Hydras in Sidewinders, but it's very significant to me.

Carry on.
