Find ship schematic from crash site?

Are you at the right site?
Make sure you select the mission site from the left panel.

And the ship schematics might be in crates around the crash site. I've found mine in weird places too, not just on the crashed ship itself.
When in doubt: Re-log! Brings back all the mats too while you are at it, and the bad guys, if you had to clear them out in the first place.

Thanks, I spent an hour driving around looking in crates and couldn't find anything. I gave up in the end, and it ran so badly that it sucked all the enjoyment out of the mission.

It might be in the foot of the comms panel. On the ship itself there might be a panel where there is a power regulator - it isn't in there!

Next to the crashed ship will be 2 containers - one half inside a rock (intentionally?) that you can't open (got a keypad on it) and one by itself that you can open. There will also likely be some in-tact cargo canisters that you can cut the maglocks on, and then scoop up the cylinders with your SRV for materials like chromium or zinc.

Anyway, between the containers and the crashed ship will be a foot-looking thing, like the foot of an Eagle's landing gear. At the bottom of this (around shin height) on one of the corners will be a panel that you can cut open. It isn't at eye level at all and you will struggle to see it. Once you cut it open there will be some stuff inside like a circuit board etc.

Took me ages to find one of these. I normally park my ship with lights aiming at the crash site and then put the SRV with full beam on whilst wandering around to get as much light as possible.

I had exactly the same problem and I spent a heck of a long time looking for secret panels. Turns out that re-instancing fixed it, as I then found what I was after in a panel I had previously searched (as described above).

One of the key learning points in this game, which for some reason I had forgotten after the thousands of hours I've played is that often things break that are fixed by re-instancing (ie logging back in or re-entering via SC). For example, the time I bought my Fleet Carrier, I couldn't see it till I logged back in to the game, even though my wingman could see it. Just recently after doing my 100 LYs in Apex Shuttle and receiving my Engineer destination invite, I couldn't see the base in system after travelling there till I relogged. There are countless examples. Knowing and remembering this can save a lot of time and frustration.

I have a tangential problem… how do I find the ship schematic at a minor wreckage site? The mission title says “crash site”, but navigation takes me to a minor wreckage. There’s only one container (no ship schematic in it), a dead pilot and a cargo container. The cargo container has two panels covering some electronics.

On your nav panel it should definitely say Crash Site in blue. Otherwise it's not the right site.
Followed blue planet, blue landing site… picked the blue target while outside my ship… my helmet HUD shows the blue globe, and following that takes me to a container that does not contain the mission item.

Even in solo.. when you land anywhere or Dock etc and flip to on foot or in ship it's a generated instance. Regardless of player mode.

When in doubt log out (relog)
Don't fly without a rebuy
Don't forget your limpets
And above all.. Don't forget a fuel scoop if your out n about.
Can't neutron jump without one.

Never play on patch day
All learned the hard way ha!

I’ve relogged twice… the mission is still broken. The navigation marker takes me to a “Chassis Cargo Unit” with two panels to cut. There’s one container next to it. There’s no ship in the vacinity. The mission it Threat 2, yet I’ve not encountered any enemies whatsoever.

If the mission says Crash site and you're not finding one that seems wrong to start with.

I did one of these last night and what showed up was a "Distress Beacon" in the nav panel and in the HUD. It was the right place, opened the crate, got the stuff, mission complete on return.

Sounds buggy.

Seemed logical to me. Ship sat there with the Distress Signal centred on it, body and crates scattered about. I though it was just a different "presentation" i.e. a marooned ship rather than a crashed one. - However I have not been doing EDO before this week so have not a lot to compare it with.

It's a bug that sometimes occur. Sometimes it also shows multiple zones of interest in the same position (a few updates back and the game actually spawned several of them overlapping themselves).
If you enter your ship/SRV, quit to menu, and get back, the loading usually corrects this and you fin the stuff (always works when it happens to me).

in the last few days I have done 10 or more of these missions and 6 missions I could not complete, but others like it I was able to complete without problems, I watched some videos on YT to see if I was doing everything right and yes I did everything right but for some reason the game would not give me the ship schematic to complete the missions.
Just to confirm, this type of missions still has a problem, am I right?

Its a bug, for some reason it doesnt always generate the correct crash site.

if you dont find what youre supposed to, reboard your ship and look at the left navigation panel again. You should now see two crash sites at the same location. (The second crash site doesnt appear until you reboard)

select the bottom one, take off and jump into supercruise, immediately spin round and drop back in, you should now be about 20km away, but you will be at the right site.

ive tried relogging, doesnt always work for me, but i guess others are lucky :)

ive found crash sites when scavengers spawn are usually the right ones..
