Finding a NEW INRA Base (Maybe)

As we know, INRA is in game. DB just gave an interview and said we hadn't found everything yet (YEY!).

I went back to look at where INRA was in FFE, and there's a possible location we could search.

The system of Hotice in FFE is the location of the "INRA mycoid vaccine store" on a rocky planet (source, last mission on the list). However, as I'm sure many of you know, Hotice doesn't exist in ED. It's possible it doesn't exist at all, but...

I was thinking, what if Hotice has just been renamed, but the system still exists in the same place?. So, I did some map-matching.

RfgMESv.jpg

This is the FFE map stitched together roughly. So we know the core systems are basically the same, but also the systems Tiliala and Bedaho are in ED and they seem to be in the same relative place as on this map. If you add Bookmarks to those two systems, Cemiess, Delta Pavonis and Beta Hydri, you can see on ED that they are in roughly the same place. So, that means we can approximately locate Hotice.

What else?
This shows the system data from FFE. Hotice is a Class M star, with three planets. Rocky, Gals giant with rings and a barren planet:

From FEE we know it's 52ly from Gateway system.

However, checking other distances we find this:

FFE distances (from Gateway):
Tiliala = 48ly
Bedaho = 49ly
Cemiess = 51ly
Delta P = 47 ly
Beta H = 50ly

However, in ED (From Gateway):
Tiliala = 133ly
Bedaho = 134ly
Cemiess = 200ly
Delta P = 92ly
Beta H = 97ly

So it's clear distances are different. Doing a bit of maths we can see that if we multiply the FFE distances by 2.77 we get the ED distances for Tiliala and Bedaho, but the others don't match, so the expansion isn't uniform sadly. So we can't work out an exact distance for Hotice from Gateway in ED. However, I've guesstimated that it'll be around 130-150ly based on the expansion of distances for the nearby systems of Tiliala and Bedaho.

Filtering the Ed starmap for just M class stars... that's still quite a lot to search, even looking them up on EDDB to check how many planets etc.

I figure if there's anything to find, then more people looking will help!

Happy searching!

NOTE: The Mycoid vaccine store sounds sort of like the facility that's already been discovered, but, that could also have just been the lab that developed it, the store could be somewhere else.

The FE2 / FFE Galaxy was flattened for reason(s). IIRC the reason(s) can be found in FrontierAstro or some other site (possibly these forums too).

Speculation, blurry idea: system name Hermitage could be the clue.

"Hermitage is of course related to hermit, a word for one who retreats from society to live in solitude, often for religious reasons. The origins of hermitage and hermit are found in Greek. Erēmos (meaning "desolate") gave rise to erēmia (meaning "desert") and eventually to the noun erēmitēs, which was used for a person living in the desert, or, more broadly, for a recluse.

The word journeyed from Greek to Latin to Anglo-French to Middle English, where it eventually transformed into hermit. The related hermitage was borrowed into English from Anglo-French in the 14th century. A hermitage can be the dwelling of a hermit (e.g., a mountain shack or a monastery) or simply a secluded home."

So, idea is that systems with INRA bases could provide clues by its names that could resemble hideout, gate away, cave, solitude, deserted etc... Specific name, not e.g HIP XX23Y-bla. Mythology related maybe...

Perhaps sytems with T-class, Y-class? Lots of those systems are in the bubble and are, for the 99.9% part, totally un-inhabited with lots of cold, landable planets.

I'll go out searching for some tonight, starting from/near Alioth.

I'll keep an eye out for:

1. Odd signal sources (random and static)
2. NPC Traffic (because there shouldn't be any)

That's a good idea. I think unexpected traffic was one of the ways the current INRA base system was located.

I dont know if it can help you :
I have extract a list of system in eddb and edsm DB with these criteria:
- distance to SOL is < 200 ly
- must contain one M class star
- must contain one landable planet
- must contain at least one giant with a ring and with a mass between 30 and 60 earth mass

Results :
first column : its for me
second : id in eddb
third : system name
fourth : distance with sol / with another reference (here gateway)
five : list of the star
six : L = with landable

I dont know if it can help you :
I have extract a list of system in eddb and edsm DB with these criteria:
- distance to SOL is < 200 ly
- must contain one M class star
- must contain one landable planet
- must contain at least one giant with a ring and with a mass between 30 and 60 earth mass

Results :
first column : its for me
second : id in eddb
third : system name
fourth : distance with sol / with another reference (here gateway)
five : list of the star
six : L = with landable

You forget CAPY. 3229088999 or something like this :)

You forget CAPY. 3229088999 or something like this :)

yeah, i am starting to get suspicious of that number, I can't seem to get a 100% surety of the number, so I didn't post it.

A disclaimer I should have posted, is that there are other things there that either my eyes, or my eyes and computer resolution can't get, so I only posted numbers/ and associated writing that I could verify. Could be 0, 8, B....I just can't say for sure.

Results :

+Rep! I have been occasionally glancing at the size of that json database, saying yikes! not today.

Ok then i have forget but in my first list you got only system that are not referenced in simbad and i have omit the system with no informations.

Here, i post a new list :
- distance to SOL is < 100 ly
- must be an unpopulated system
- must contain one M class star
- must contain one landable planet
- must contain at least one giant with a ring and with a mass between 30 and 60 earth mass
+ system with no information in databases.
