Finding Artemis suit

I've read that sometimes you can buy a pre-upgraded suit. Anyone know how to find a grade 3 Artemis suit, or do I just run around checking High-Tech systems?

I'm not certain that the system economy plays a role? I bought a G3 Maverick suit last night at an Agricultural system. And I'm pretty sure my G2 Artemis was bought at an Industrial system.

When I visit a concourse to sell data to Vista Geonomics, I just drop in at Pioneer and see what's there. Never can tell.

Suits are actually the most common finds as every Pioneer Supplies stock them.
I've not seen any correlation between base stock, or premium stock to system or port economy.
As such it's just a numbers game.
For my credits I'd go for a G2 with a decent mod over a G3.

I got one with extended sprint duration, and some other mod like increased tracking which isn't really useful. When I get enough materials I'll probably want night vision.
I got an Artemis with night vision just by doing some Thurday/friday shopping for a few hours each week for a couple of weeks. Go to systems with lots of stations/outposts far from the main star and you'll often get good gear.

edit - I've since updated it to have other mods I wanted that are easier to unlock than the night vision would be.

From my experience hunting down pre-upgraded gear (on a 3rd account already), it seems to me that Industrial outposts, starports and planetary ports have more chances to get better gear (pre-upgraded and even pre-modded)

but it's important to check if the stations were visited since last Thursday, and for this you can use Inara - albeit it's a 2 step process

Search for the Equipment you want: below i search for stations that were known to have Maverick G3 in the past (that doesnt mean you will find a mav g3, but only that station sold a such suit in the past)

Then you need to right click > open in new tab each station and check Station Update value

Saunders Dock in Mislika was visited on September 28th (according to Inara)
Klimuk Ring in Guaras was visited on September 26th
Sure it's only useful if the visitor is syncing his data, but at least you have some sort of useful (most of the time) indication

BTW, I've noticed a slight bug. I'm "Compiler" now, but the game has given me access to the cosmetic suit and decal for "Collector".

OK... one more utter noob question if I may? I found a Distress Signal POI on a planet. There's a component (new-to-me engineering material) on top of the crashed ship. But my SRV can't pick it up, and on foot I can't even select it (and I have no cargo scoop!) How do I even grab it? Do I need the Maveric suit instead of the Artemis or is it a keybind I'm missing? I've looked all through the on-foot keybinds and can't see a "select" or "grab" anywhere.

Sounds like some Odyssey mats contained in a mag-locked service hatch that needs to be cut open with the Mav suit's Arc Cutter (specialized tool for the Mav suit). The hatch is colored bright red and the mag lock is barber-pole striped red and white. Once opened, you need only highlight and collect the mats inside.

in my case I found it by filtering systems by high population.

My guess would be the power regulator.
90% of the time it's degraded so not worth much.
In order to get it you'd need to cut through the mag lock on the hatch with the cutter on the Maverick suit, then open the drawer to expose the regulator. There are a few electrical assets behind the hatch also, but I prefer to be quick when dealing with these as scavs are likely to drop in.

Very true, and often these POIs have scav defenders on approach as well. The Dumbfire Solution is fastest. However, this is only true within the Sol-centerd Bubble and it's outskirts. I've been salvaging all kinds of POIs out in the Far Black and there is no interference* at all. How the POIs got there I have no idea and no interest in the mystery.

You're also right about the Degraded Power Regulators. I've never found one in the usual POIs where a ship has its nose buried in the dirt and the hatch in an aft dorsal position. However, I did find one non-Degraded PR (and only one in many salvage ops for suit upgrades) in a POI (I forget the label, sorry -- could have been a Distress Signal Beacon) where the ship was not heavily damaged and there were two hatches located on the underside of its "wings." As I recall, the salvage of the PR & other items at this site was considered theft. That always puzzled me, but I was able to use them in upgrades nonetheless. YMMV.

*EDIT: I don't consider Skimmers and Stingers, which show up frequently at a number of different POI types, as interference, just minor annoyances.
