Engineers Finding Irregular Emission Data AND the Need for a Comprehensive Database

This thread will be split into two separate but related parts.

Part 1:

I need Irregular Emission Data by the truckload. I use pulse lasers for all of my ships, and I like efficient lasers. Since G4 is the best grade I can get, I need lots of materials for it. Selenium is just fine, heat vanes are easy enough to get, but irregular emission data... I have spent the last week looking for them and

I. Have. Not. Found. A. Single. One.

I'm pulling my hair out in frustration over this fact. I know I need Encoded Emission USSs in Boom systems, but I have found nothing in a week searching for them. I also know they can be found in satellites in orbit of ELWs, so I've been searching He Bo, which is in Boom and has two ELWs. Nothing. I've found numerous datamined wake exceptions (very useful, but not what I'm immediately looking for) in addition to a lot of other miscellaneous crap, but not a single IED. Where in god's name am I supposed to be looking? Because surely it isn't meant to be this hard! Which brings me to

Part 2:

We need a comprehensive database on where to find each and every material. It is supremely annoying trying to connect hundreds of different threads together to piece out where exactly I'm supposed to go to find things. Something that will say, if you're looking for this, do this. Frankly, in a community this size, I'm amazed that the engineers have been out so long without such a thing being created. Just trying to find the stuff in-game is frustrating enough, trying to find information on it online just adds to it! There was a thread (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ntified-Signal-Sources-(USS)-A-Complete-Guide) that started on the path of doing that, but it was removed for reasons that defy understanding. We really need a central database to reduce the already immense frustration that many feel towards engineers.

I'd appreciate advice on part 1 and comments on part 2.

Part 2: inara.cz, for example, Irregular Emission Data

Part 1: People often find that the random number generator needs a 'poke' by leaving the system and returning.

Also, the system state can change. So if you log off in a boom system, it may not be in boom when you log on the next day. That happened to me the other night when I needed outbreak systems.

Irregular is actually fairly hard to find. It's easier to get Unexpected Emission Data, I'd recommend you move up to G5. I rarely get it off combat ship scans.

I'll reply to everyone in turn.

Unfortunately, INARA is woefully inadequate for this. It's the resource I've been using, but it doesn't say, for instance, what type of USS it's located in, nor where to find such type of USSs. And I'm aware that system state can change, so I keep a close eye on it. As of right now, He Bo is still in Boom.

It's fairly common as a mission reward. Just scan through the available missions at a station and you should find some.

EDIT - and if you're looking for the post you linked, that the author later deleted, it's copied here:

This is very useful, and I'm embarrassed that I didn't find this on my own. Many thanks!

Such a database exists. And is up to date. You will find a link to it in this topic. If you think that is useful please post in the topic and share it with others.

THIS! This is what I was looking for! This is beautiful, many thanks!

Believe me, I would if I could. G5 efficient pulses? Yes please. But unfortunately, I'm incapable of unlocking Broo Tarquin, so I don't have access to G5.

I went through all the combinations of state, starport type and allegiance looking for these and spread-sheeted them.

The best chance of finding the missions is at military or agriculture planetary starports.

Change in state seemed to make little difference, ditto for allegiance.

Mostly they are given 1 at a time, very very very rarely you'll find 8 at a time.

but since they aren't grade 5 materials and not everyone screams and shouts about them, frontier seem to have no cares.

I got 64 exquisite focus crystals without even trying.

Irregular Emission data? after a week of trying to get them I have 20.

Your best bet is to go scan satellites (boom, high security) in "deep-space" 800-1200ls from the star in supercruise "Encoded Emissions Threat 0".
