Newcomer / Intro Finding meta-alloys

Hi Folks,

Where do I find Meta-Alloys?

I've done a bit of Googling... and I've been to Maia and there are none. I don't have a permit for Sol and I don't want to risk a Titan (whatever it is....)

Barnacle fields

You might see a thargoid recharging its fusion core there. This is an awesome sight to behold

Cheap and easy: pick them up from any Titan wreckage site. The Titans are dead and the caustic clouds aren't any more. There may be some live Thargoids around, who will usually play with human (NPC)AX pilots, just keep out of their way. Unless you know what you're doing, don't pick up any other Thargoid commodities (materials are fine) since those are often caustic and will cause damage over time to your ship until you drop them.
Expensive and easy: buy them from one of the carriers, usually hanging out in Deciat. Since they're out to make a big profit (to put it mildly), they won't come cheap. You might be able to recoup the cost, though, by delivering a single bounty voucher in the current CG. Stick to the description - the bounties need to be from the Dhan Empire League, and you need to sign up to the CG before handing it in. That'll get you 60 MCr., a pintjob and a Kill Warrant Scanner you might find useful if you go bounty hunting in a ship with a big power plant.
Cheap, but not so easy: travel out to one of the Barnacle fields. I'd check with Canonn which of those are still viable. Those are the original sources of the MAs, but itr's quite a hike to get out there.

Oh, and if you're not that much experienced in ship combat and want to avoid getting experience in handling the rebuy screen, don't go into Deciat in Open 😁.

Pick them up in Cocijo. Don't even have to worry about 'goids there. Only pirates there and decent shielding means you'll survive long enough for the naval ships there to rip them a new one if they do attack.

The problem with Meta-Alloys is it is so hard to sell them to people that want them at the right price without being cleaned out by those that want to re-sell them at silly money:)

SOL - Cocijo - Equip your ship with collector limpets AND corrosion resistant Cargo Rack/s.
Meta-Alloys spawn reasonably frequently within 20k of the Titan.

Titan Drive Components generally spawn around 10k but not always and are a fair bit rarer.
I got 3x within first 20 minutes yesterday.
Other days I can go for an hour without seeing 1.

Do you only need one rack of any size and rest can be normal? Or do you need enough space in ant-corrosion to hold anything that is corrosive? does the protection of one rack extend to all racks?

You need the resistive rack's capacity for the number of corrosive thingies you pick up. I went with a 1F rack - that let me collect up to 2 corrosive things so I could hold a heart and a tdc - I also had other racks and they held the meta alloys I picked-up (they are not corrosive).

So - no the resistant racks don't mean all other racks resist corrosion.

(No I don't know why the 1E only holds 1 thing (tonne / container) and the 1F holds 2 - I'd have thought the letters would be the other way around. ¯\(ツ)/¯ )

My old favorite is to get them from Thargoid bases, which can be found with civilization mode in galaxy map. The barnacles tended to be too strip mined for me at least back then. But yeah, the titan remains are probably the closest if you don't want to buy it from carriers.
