Finding out landing pad sizes for Odyssey settlements

I want to trade with the new settlements, but how do I determine the landing pad size without going there and requesting landing clearance?

I've tried the side panel on the left and the system map.


In the Sys map, features just tells me there's Docking.

In the left panel, selecting the base just tells me there's trade.

I've already visited two with large pads, so I know they exist.

Just wondering if there's a clue in the naming (installation vs Depot, for example.)


Horizons settlements are fine:

They're not. They were in Alpha but now a whole lot of them have only small pads and there's no apparent way to work out what size the settlements are in the map.

Not that it matter, you can easily land 100 meters away from settlement.

They're not all large, and you can't land outside the settlement if you want to use the ship-based 'services' menu to buy cargo. The market screen is not accessible on foot.

There are definitely some settlements that only have small pads. I was turned away from one in my asp this morning.

I found that I was unable to land a medium ship at some small settlements, but just landed nearby and used my SRV.

I can't believe that information can't be found on the wonderful new System map (and probably couldn't be easily found even if it was there). I'm shocked, shocked I say.

Thanks for the replies. I'm aware I can land outside the settlement, but that doesn't help with trading.

I've resorted to taking a small ship and flying to each of the Odyssey mining settlements in this system, checking their landing pads and prices.

+1, settlement descriptions need to have a max landing pad size, in the very least to properly support trading.

I'd be very interested to know if the name can be used like this. I'll try to find time to do some tests myself this weekend.

My research was interrupted by a document fetch mission, where I walked into a HAB bathroom (where the mission locker was) and was assassinated by a guard on the spot.

I'd already been scanned twice and cleared, didn't have a weapon or tool out. There was no security tape on the entrance. Didn't even open the locker and definitely didn't steal anything.

Now making my way back from the prison ship.

I found a Mining Hub with only small pads, though that doesn't quite rule out that other sorts of Hub are different.

I was going to say maybe Inara and the like were able to display this but it looks like they are still catching up . No sign of any Odyssey installtions listed in a given system yet .
