NGC 7822 is by no means hard to reach or even remotely near the rim, it is less than 3Kly from the bubble - I think you are confusing its location with somewhere else.
Well, "getting towards" the rim. I went there a long time ago, before engineers, in a 20LY Cobra, and could only get there by plotting short routes in stages. Apart from the plotting, I agree it's easy. They've also improved the route plotter since then.
I was near Elephant Nebula when I saw a nice cluster of stars so had to keep plotting routes around my location in Galaxy Map until the target system was close to the cluster of stars, eventually managed to find them. It takes quite a while though.
