First go in the Combat zone last night

I got a coperation mission (ross 128 social ) to go and kill bad guys in a 'Warzone' so i went to said system and entered the conflict zone.

Well thats was somthing new, 20+ (10 yellow & 10 green)ships all having a big fight and as soon as i engage one of 'yellow team' the entire 'yellow team' changed to red, so then i have 10 of green and 10 of red. 40 minutes later and down to 10% hull i managed to get the quota of 8 enemy ships. great fun and actuaLy broke a sweat!

so 8 kills got me 22K wage from the corp but i have a 200k repair bill! should have used a cobra not and ASP DoH!

Even thoug it cost me credits to do it was well worth it.

Great to hear you having a good time. Combat zones are my favourite part of the game personally. In the future if you don't want to lose so much cash here are a couple of tips:

1) All ships are worth the same so if you want to rack up lots of quick kills and cash kill the fighters and Eagles rather than the anacondas and pythons. They are all worth 3k each.

2) if you get engaged on by an enemy ship and they are pounding your shields look for some green ships nearby and fly towards to biggest group of friendlies. The friendlies should engage the guy on your tail if they don't already have targets themselves so it can take the Afro off you and help you take him down.

Hope this helps you in the future.

Good tips. I hadn't tried the combat zones yet, but when I do, I'll keep this stuff in mind! :)

Next time, don't just start shooting at yellow...pick a side. Go into your right panel, select "functions", and you can select a side to fight for after entering the war zone.

I did not upgrade the shields, maybe i should have thought about that first!

Funily enought i now have enought money to buy a A5 generator but i asume i will have to upgrade the power plant first?

I run an A5 shield with a D powerplant (iirc). I've not got everything to A tho, far too expensive so far.

But yes, an Asp needs a good shield. When turning it's a *huge* target, after all.

I like to sit on the periphery waiting for a red to come nr followed by a bunch of greenies. Then once theyve dealt with his shields etc I join in and pinch the kill. Doesnt always work as a conda gave me a right beating with one shot and i had to scarper like Brave Sir Robin. Now I pick on the eagles/cobras/vipers etc and leave the big boys well alone. can get a bit laggy in the high intensity ones i noticed.

Always worth upgrading the power plant, and the power distributor as well which is cheaper. I flew the Asp with the basic shield generator and kept having enormous repair bills, I now have a B5 and one on one even against a clipper my shields were intact.
