First time

I just got reported by a player, with quite a accusatory message sent to me.
I have played Ed for 3 years, never cheated, played elite for 25years actually.
During a pvp as I tried to high wake, my system crashed, the internet is a bit dodgy where I am staying and he (or she) thought I pulled the power cord and reported me.
Fairly p***ed off by this actually, these things happen and yes they can happen at inopportune times, but to jump to conclusions and send silly texts is quite wrong in my opinion, so if I get banned I will live with it, but my console was still on so I hope justice is done.

Rant over

Big Brother (F.D.) will know what happened and deal with it accordingly.

I have a second rate laptop and a third rate connection and so lose the game, during NPC combat. Which can be quite annoying.

Send the player a nastygram back. And report him for sending you a nastygram. :) Dont stress about bans. We just got a new space game, btw.

What's your reaction when you're shooting someone and they disappear? Ooh they must have 'disconnected '

Just a couple of days ago my internet modem was rebooted by the cable company. They didn't send me a nice warning message, they just did it.

It happens.

Not everyone has their own OC3 backbone to play games on.

Are you sure you were reported? It could have just been a nasty text claiming to have reported you.

Then again, I don't know of anyone being banned for Combat Logging. There was one guy that got a warning in a group I used to be in, but he never got banned as far as I know. He probably should have, but FD doesn't see things that way. He was booted from the group, which was good.

If you didn't CL, no biggie. If you did, FD will probably ignore it on the first or third report. They won't even warn you until they see a pattern from what I understand.

That's what I said. Are you American?

I feel your pain. I live in an area where I get power outages at least once a week and the internet more so. Sometimes I'll be in a party and I'll hear the wind blowing outside and I'll just be like, "oh no, it was good talking to you guys, see you tomorrow." and then the power will shut off.

If you are innocent then chill and forget about it.

But if you combat logged then it's on your conscience and may it burn there that you are a base creature and to add to that coming to the forum to try and cover your failings is beyond low.

Have a nice day o7

Given how unstable connections currently are, I'm wondering that someone with half a brain even reported you in the first place.

Apart from that, given how resolutely they have been acting against real, regular combat loggers so far, chances are that "report player" is a redirect to /dev/null anyway.

WRT Combat Logging: Those who care, don't matter - and those who matter, don't care.

It's quite simple: FDEV will never be able to discern between a "task kill" and a "real crash", and unless they add centralized servers that keep your ship "in game" for 15s (after crashing / task killing) - it will always be impossible for them to properly punish people who abuse Combat Logging.
